Thanks Brenda. I've opened a new topic as suggested. And yes, of course I recognise your name.

Thanks Theresa. Hague Publishing's been going eight years now, which is quite a presentable period for a small publisher.

Hi Phrynee - I read Sweep of the Blade five times in two weeks. It is that good.

Yicheng Liu (liu0019) Hi everyone!!

Sorry for the late post, I'm a SF&F Chinese-Australian author who's been writing for a few years, and finally published my first book last year.

Since writing is my dream, I’m (still) trying to find a way to monetise my writings and break into the writing profession. Hopefully, I’ll one day become a full-time author, but until then, I’ll have to learn to juggle different career ambitions. *C’est la vie.*

My first book The Remains of Civilisation is a sci-fi thriller surrounding a mostly humorous take on a shadowy alien conspiracy that secretly control the world, and a group of friends who had been sucked in too deep.

I look forward to participating in future discussions.

Yicheng Liu

Hi Clare, Welcome. There are some excellent YA books out there I was pretty impressed by Tomorrow when the war began. I must find the rest of Marsden's books.

message 9379: by Madison (new)

Madison Small | 1 comments Hey, I'm Madison. I'm a newcomer to Goodreads, having joined earlier in the year. I've always liked reading but realised I wanted to be more consistent with my reading habits. That's why I like the reading challenge. I can both keep track of the stories I've been enjoying and also be up to date on my reading goal. :)

message 9380: by Michelle (new)

Michelle Prak (prakky) Hi everyone. My name's Michelle, though I often go by 'Prakky'. I've been a Goodreads member since 2012 and my favourite writers include Aussies like Robert Drewe and Geraldine Brooks. I saw 'Red Queen' listed here as a recent read (I think?)- that was a cracker of a story!

My tastes range widely, from thriller to dystopian to romance! I used to be a book club member but that's lapsed because of time commitments, so I look forward to seeing recommendations here. In the past 12 months I've self published two novels and writing is my new addiction, leaving me less time to read (which can be vexing, but it's a nice problem to have). Cheers!

L.E. Glazebrook (leglazebrook) | 4 comments Hi Everyone,

I'm from Brisbane too Mandy :) I've been an avid reader all my life but when my job was made redundant last year, I though I'd set free the ideas in my head, and I started to write. I have one published book and I'm halfway through writing the sequel. They're urban fantasies with a message, (the characters include gargoyles, elves, demons and everything in between), set in Australia. Hopefully my stories are different enough to attract enough attention to stand out from the thousands of other books on Amazon. It's been a lot of fun but also bloody challenging (can I say the B word here? It's the great Aussie swear word after all lol). Lovely to meet you all :)

message 9393: by Stacey (new)

Stacey Houllis | 32 comments I found Goodreads through my local libraries and joined over 4 years ago. I began reading books from Nora Robert's, Lori Foster, Abbie Glines , and to discovering Australian Authors of Rachael Johns, Karly Lane, Fiona Palmer, Fiona Macarthur, Mandy Magro, Lisa Ireland, Barbara Hannay, Sarah Barrie to name a few. I like to read paperbacks easier to hold it in place to read and feel it in your hands. I read romantic spence thrillers, contemporary romances, rural romances, and others.

Welcome Cphe. - I had a sqiz at your bookshelf and was delighted; someone else that has read and re-reads Red Adam's Lady I have always suspected I was the only person in the universe who did that.
