I'm Julia and I am originally from Chicago but now live in Houston. After graduating from uni, I spend four months backpacking through Australia and hit every state except for Western Australia. I loved my time there and hope to go back in the next couple of years because it's already been 17 years!
I'm still fascinated with Australian culture, art, and history and love reading Australian writers and Australian historical fiction.

Ummm what else? I'm cisgender female, so use she/her pronouns. I'm not far off 30. I used to be a high school teacher and haven't quite left the teaching community behind enough to stop thinking about what books would be good for a classroom or talking to other teachers. My debut novel is coming out in May with Ford Street Publishing. My favourite author is Jaclyn Moriarty (I don't write as well as her or with her delightful whimsy, sorry). I have 3 children aged 6, 4 and 18 months. I also have a golden retriever.

Julia we have a couple of other North American members so you'll fit in very well, there are a lot of Aussie Authors who write Australian Historical novels so you'll soon come up with a huge list - and Gabrielle I'm an ex Novicastrian (now living in Darwin) but there are a few members that are living in and around Newcastle who will no doubt introduce themselves in due course. Also a lot of YA lovers as well.
Welcome to the group Gabrielle :) If you'd like to promote your novel, please create a new thread in the Author Spotlight section - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... - click on "new topic" top right hand corner and follow the prompts. Thanks :)

Congrats Julia on the upcoming debut! Must be so exciting! I have so many books in my head but have never had the wherewithal to get them down let alone even attempt to publish. So kudos to you!
Howdy to the windy city girl living in lone star state now! I was born and raised in Michigan original, but have lived in Oz for 6.5 years now.

I'm an Aussie author of historical fiction and my debut novel was released in December last year. It's been an intensely busy time as I have another book coming out next year. Look forward to joining in :)
Welcome Kate 😊 Lovely to have you with us. If you'd like to create your own thread in the Author Spotlight section you can chat about your books..

Thanks very much, Brenda, I'll do that :)

I can probably help you locate books for you, Julia. I'm getting rather good at it too but it took me a while to fine tune my search system! =o)
If you PM me a list of books you're looking for I'll see what I can do! Just let me know. I'm always around to help! Nice to meet you!

Live in regional South Australia, with a busy life that up until recently has provided little time for reading. Enter goodreads, inspiring setting up a personal challenge to read more books = surprising and unexpected renewed reading experiences.
Have a wide reading interest, as found interesting books from science (the Radium Girls) to science fiction (Thrawn).
Currently hooked on the Harry Bosch series by Michael Connelly, as what's so interesting is something small can spark a genre interest - in this case from a television series.
