Welcome Trish and Graham! I hope you both enjoy your time with us. This is the most wonderful group and I'm still pinching myself to have stumbled upon it when first finding this site. :)

Hi I'm Kim, male, 62, living in England but lived in Orange, New South Wales as a child and still have an affinity for the country and its literature. Still remember learning Banjo Patterson's poetry at school and still love it. Always been an avid reader and remember loving February Dragon by Colin Thiele when it came out. Love Tim Winton's books ans recently discovered Jane Harper and Liz Perratt, thanks to Goodreads. Found your group thanks to Lisa who I've just friended on Goodreads. Looking forward to taking part in discussions, competitions etc. Would love to be a writer too - wrote my first story at the age of 12 and it's probably still in the school library at Glenroi Heights Primary School, where the headmaster insisted it went! Trying to find time to write my memoirs of being a Ten Quid Tourist from when my family emigrated in 1963.

Hello! I've just joined this group. I'm not actually from Australia, but I love the country very much and I'm in Australia right now (Iluka, WA) and plan to do a little bit of traveling and work here for the next five months (actually a little more than four months left now).
I also love to read, so I really like to join this group. I've read as long as I can remember. I read almost everything, but mostly thrillers/horror.
I'm looking forward to getting to know some great Australian books/authors through this group!
My real name is Iza, I'm 24 y/o and from Leiden, Holland. Apart from reading I also like working with children, music, hiking, snow, coffee, walking barefoot, and a lot more! I like to keep busy ;-)
I'm currently reading The Secret History by Donna Tartt (one of my favorites!) =)

Hi! I'm Kim and I've just joined this group. I'm a Melbourne aspiring author trapped somewhere between writing my first draft and the seventh circle of hell. I have always been a veracious reader since I was little. Anyone else here old enough to remember those MS Read-a-thons??
I was always reading and re-reading my favourite books. I went through a particularly difficult time around 6 years ago, I was suffering Post-Natal Depression after the birth of my son in 2007 but it wasn't diagnosed until 2011. The reason I mention this is that one of the effects was inability to focus on reading. It was really difficult to look at my shelves of books and know that not only did they no longer bring me joy but even if I tried to read the meaning slipped away from me line by line.
Now I'm able to read and enjoy books again and I'm so, so happy about that. This past year I've been reading a lot of Aussie authors and don't know why I didn't before. I'm loving the resonance that Aussie voices have with me and thoroughly enjoying discovering the massive selection of talent Australia has out there!
Welcome Kim. I'm so pleased you've rediscovered the joy of reading. It's a chance to escape from the humdrum for a little while. Keep working on your draft - it's a wonderful feeling when you finally hold a copy of our own book in your hands.
