No I'm not new here, Dom. It's just that I don't post on here as much as I use to. Hope you enjoy the group anyway. We are a friendly bunch and the mods in this group are very helpful if you ever need to know anything. Happy reading :)

Thank you very much Dom! :) Almost 2 weeks since I stumbled upon this site, and enjoying myself immensely. :)

When I was young I read very widely but since working full time and now kids I read less and less. But I miss it.
I stumbled across Goodreads looking for a book I remembered reading about 20 years ago, (The Outcast by Patricia Bernard, if anyone's interested) and then saw this community.
I have pretty broad tastes so not much point listing what I like (I don't like horror or true crime!). I like reading books by Australian authors or with an Australian flavour. Looking forward to picking up some recommendations and being part of this community.

But let me look around. I am friends with others who may be looking for things of a greater Aussie flavour. :)

Welcome Edi! We have many threads in this group that you can check out that will give you lots of Aussie authors to try. Plus our Bookshelf (top right hand side on any page) is filled with AAs :) Have fun...

Thanks for the suggestions Chris - if you find anything for Edi, (or anyone else for that matter) can you pop them in the Aussie Recommendations thread please? Just that this is the Intro thread and anything else gets lost among the newbies introducing themselves :)

Hello Edi! Welcome! I hope you enjoy your time here. I'm a newbie too and I'm loving every moment. I'm certainly still finding my feet with where everything is so to speak. :)
I also hope one day you'll be able to find some of the time you once had to read as widely as previously. I'm a bit like you, while I don't have children, I do work full time and don't read as much as I used to or would like.... I wish I could read all day like I once did!
Have fun Edi! xo

Hi Edi, Welcome! I'm from Melbourne too and absolutely hopeless at Goodreads and worse joining in on groups. The heart is willing but time is pressing :) The Aussie Readers bunch are super nice and helpful. Hope you enjoy it and get back into reading lots. Jay.

Thank you for the warm welcome Carolyn! It's wonderful to have stumbled upon this site, and this group! :)

Hi Mark, great to have you in our group :) If you'd like to give us an insight into your books, head to the Author Spotlight section - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... - and create your own thread "new topic" top right hand corner. You can also request to be placed on the Aussie author list in that same folder as well :)

My name is Rizwan and I will be moving to Melbourne this year.
I'm more into non-fiction books, particularly which are related to the history and current affairs of South Asia and history of the Middle East. Sometimes, I also read fiction books and John Steinbeck, George Orwell, Mario Puzo, Salman Rushdie are my favorite.
Moreover, I also like books by Yuval Noah Harari, Christopher Hitchens and sometimes Dawkins!
Kind regards,
Rizwan
