Hi, I'm from Rydalmere, a Sydney suburb. Now have published four books, and I'm currently writing a fifth. They're all Australian Police Detective Thrillers, the first on set in Sydney and Melbourne, my current one is at the moment in Adleaide. I guess they're loosely in the 'Hard-Boiled' genre, but they do have very definite supernatural overtones. By the way I did serve for some time as a Policeman in both English and Australian Police Forces.

Hope that I can contribute a little. I have registered in the Aussie authors area, so details of my books should be avualable there.
One thing I find in todays world about writing is it really does expand your horizons. I've visited Adelaide countless times, but as my current story needed a port I resorted to Google maps. Port Adelaide, I've never been there,, but now having digitally strolled its streets I will be heading there as soon as I'm really Adelaide bound again!

Hi there; I live in Ontario but my daughter lives in Melbourne. I work in a Public Library and ever since she moved to Australia, I am obsessed with reading books set in Australia or written by Australian authors. Unfortunately, a lot of the books recommended by this group are not available at our libraries here. I would love it if someone could give me 1 or 2 titles of the best "Australian" books, as my daughter is coming for a visit and I can ask her to bring them for me.

There's also the mid and end of year top titles thread which would be the best for what you want. Sorry I can't link for you as I'm on my phone but they would definitely get good results for you. Welcome Shirley! I agree with Brenda that you might watch the share reviews thread. I have very similar likes with many friends in this group and have good luck with that, as I live in the US.
Perhaps you might want to look at the Aussie authors shelves from people in the group?

I know both The Dry by Jane Harper and The Light Between Oceans by M.L. Stedman have been doing really well in the US so you should be able to find those in the bookshops/library.
