Lesley Moseley | 36 comments Hi, Now that I have retired, I live a wonderful, safe and affordable life in Greenvale, outback Queensland.. I get to 'chat' all morning on FB, GR and update my Rural Library page with orders and suggestions for purchase, if the book is not in the main catalogue.

I get 8 books at a time from my nearest library, Charters Towers, at a cost of $3 for the door to door delivery. My librarians reckon only 5% of their clientele , like to read what I do..

See my authors page, if interested.

Quetzi Fernald (quetzilibros) | 9 comments Hi, I wanted to know if any of you can recommend some Aussie authors who teach you (in a fun way) about Aussie life & living. I'm interested in learning the history of Australia including the lives of the Aborigines. Old & new life in Australia. Also if anyone knows about books on Aborigines Folklore. I read a book over a decade ago on the Aboriginal Folklore & I couldn't put it down. Thanks & G'day to all of you.

David Makinson | 7 comments Hi everyone. I'm David Makinson, new Australian author and old Australian reader. (Well, oldish...).

Just published my first book and I've asked to be added to the Author Spotlight list.

Currently reading? Moby Dick. I know it's considered a masterpiece by many...but I beg to differ! It's an extremely arduous read, but I am nothing if not stubborn - it will be finished. One day.

Welcome David :) Please edit your post to remove reference to your book and in the Author Spotlight section you can create your own thread to tell us all about it. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... (top right hand side - "new topic" and go from there:) Thanks!

Welcome Quetzi...my recommendation is to head to our other threads or even make your own with your request. This introduction thread means within a few posts your request will be lost - if you have your own, or chat in the existing threads (you'll find some Aussie recommendation threads when you browse) you'll have a much better response. Thanks!

Hi Quetzi
This is a must read, 'Why Warriors lay Down and Die' by Richard Trudgeon. Richard has lived with the Yolngu tribes of Arnhem land for decades and has an amazing insight into aboriginal history and culture.
Cheers
Ed Elgar

message 7447: by Christine (new)

Christine | 14 comments Hi I am Christine and live in Cowell a rural seaside town on the Eyre Peninsula South Australia . Been living here since my early retirement 9 yrs ago. I had been a Registered nurse prior to this but had a car accident which put an end to my career. I now spend my time card making and selling them on Etsy and reading, reading and more reading. I love mystery/crime/thriller and biography/memoir books. At present I am reading a Leann Sweeney cosy mystery book and previous to that Tears of the silenced - a true crime Amish tragedy. I am looking forward to sinking my teeth into some good old Australian literature and one of the reasons for joining this group. I have also joined a reading challenge to read min. 26 books in 2016. I love BBC (bed, books, cats) lol.
