Must have been a knockout book, ha!!"
Becca and Carmel you guys are just too funny!!;D

My name is Michelle and I live in Birkdale, on the Bayside east of Brisbane. I have two grown daughters, the youngest of whom has an intellectual disability. I have rediscovered my love of reading making the time to wade through a huge volume of works last year while my husband, daughter and I sailed up the east coast of Queensland and back over 6 months. (I will need to get a kindle for our next big trip. I also loved to write in a former life, but in recent years have mainly confined myself to writing stories, submissions and policy documents for an advocacy group that I have been volunteering with for the past 15+ years. However, I did manage to put together a blog at www.sailblogs.com/member/shell
which is not really indicative of my writing style, more a diary of our trip. Mandy, this was a lovely invitation and I thank you again. It is good to be amongst Aussie friends on GR, and I look forward to some discussions. Cheers,Shell

I forgot to mention in my last post that I have also read 3 books by Anna Campbell whic..."
Hi Bronwyn,
Anna also now lives around the Sunshine Coasr, and would be chuffed to hear you love her books! She does the dark, tortured hero's to a T =)

I second that welcome Tabatha. I hope you will find some additional reading material here that will further fill up that limited reading time. We all seem to have that problem. :P

Tee hee, tidy shidy, someone will only come in and mess it up again anyway.

G'day to all the newies, pull up a stump & enjoy the yarns (-:
It's easy Michelle, go to your folders, open a brand new folder & name it 'housework', then hit the delete button & you will be asked 'sure you want to delete housework' then click on yes...simple. LOL!!

I wiiiisssshhhhh~!!
I don't mind washing up but that is about it..lol

I thought I had it bad. I always had to wash up for a family of 7. :(

I think it getting to the stage of once in three years for me ...
my other half has started watching some show on tv, which he insists we all watch, where two ladies in the UK go around to houses and check to see how clean they are and clean them up and in the process show all the evils that are lurking in the dust etc.. My other half is starting to give me the 'evil eye' and I HATE this program!
Hand him the dust cloth Dee-Ann. I am sure five minutes after those ladies leave, the houses revert to their original state.

Become a fan - if not because you like my writing, then to follow me through my tumultuous writing journey (seeking empathy vibes).
Gday to you all!
Gerry
Honestly don't know what you women carry on about, more than not I get home from a big day at work, on the way through the garage grab a coldie from the beer fridge, go straight to the kitchen & start preparing dinner, once everything is on the stove I chuck the clothes into the washing machine, check on the food, grab the vac & start cleaning, stopping now & then to check on the food, & check on the missus who's lying down in the bedroom, grab another beer, 3/4 through vacuming stop & finish preparing food & dish onto plates, finish vacuming & put vac away, take dinner into the missus & place mine into micro for later, go aroung with cloth for a quick dust off, put cooking utensils into dishwasher & clean sink, wipe the stove top, go & get clothes from machine & place in dryer (wet season) grab another beer, check birds water seed etc & spend a few minutes telling him all my woe's, sit down to eat my dinner, half way through go & get the wifes plate, clean off & place into DW, finish my dinner while watching some tele, grab fresh towels from cupboard & hang in ensuite, remove dry clothes from dryer & place in basket near the ironing board, (it's a case of whoever irons these) grab another beer & enjoy while sitting on the lounge for a few minutes, because we have tiles throughout sometimes I mop instead of vacuming, this does not include the times I change the sheets & doona covers, or hose & clean the patio & I'm still trying to finsh building my shed & write & web surf &...&........So I don't know what the big deal is girls.... Hahahahaha!!!!LOL!!
I am in-love with you David. Abandon your wife and come and live with me. :D

aaah, so drinking beer is the clue to a clean house ... must reassess my strategies.

No no no he's mine!!!!Move over Gail!! ha ha"
maybe we can franchise him ...
Hehehehe!!..it's not everyday, but, quite a few of them, I do a mean marinated rotisserie crackle roast or chook & vegies on the barbie as well.
Forgot my favorite, slow cooked Guinness stout lamb shanks. (-:
Sounds delicious David, my mouth is watering.
Here you go.
Lamb Shanks braised in Guinness
Yield: Serves 6
6 lamb shanks
Flour, for dredging
Salt and pepper
1/3 cup olive oil
12 small white onions, peeled
3 large carrots, sliced
3 stalks celery, sliced
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
Pinch of rosemary
Pinch of thyme
1 cup Guinness
3/4 cup beef stock
12 small potatoes, peeled
Lightly moisten the lamb shanks with water. In a large bowl or plastic bag, combine the flour, salt, and pepper and dredge the meat. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat the olive oil. Add the lamb shanks and cook on all sides until browned, about 10 minutes. Transfer to a Dutch oven or ovenproof casserole. Add the onions, carrots, celery, garlic, rosemary, and thyme to the skillet and cook for 5 minutes, stirring constantly to absorb the pan juices. Combine the vegetables and pan juices with the lamb. Add the Guinness, and beef stock, cover, and simmer for 45 minutes. Add the potatoes, correct seasonings, recover, and cook until the meat is tender, 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours. To serve, place a lamb shank in the middle of a broad soup bowl and spoon vegetables and broth around.

Oh!!..here is where I get my Guinness recipes from.

If you are not an Alcohol person, apparently, so I have been told, the alcohol 'cooks out' of the Guinness. Don't know if that is true or not.

Hahahaha!!!...brazilian toe massages are better, my wife loves them.
Hahaha!!..it's not bad (-:
Brazilian toe massage is using you thumb & pointing finger by gently pressing pointing finger on toenail area & thumb on toe pad area, spending a few minutes, release then apply again for a few minutes.

Any form of massage will suit me.

BTW...I'm not a SNAG either, just in case anyone was thinking that, I'm an ex truckie, loves a beer or 3, hates wine stuff, people who overly pronounce their 'vowels' with their noses well in the air, but at home I believe in sharing the workload, though lately it's been leaning a bit more my side, but I don't mind.

Hmm...so I need to drink beer while I clean...I think that could spell trouble..lol
Hahahaha!!..works for me. (-:
You might at least be happier about the cleaning. Hide any broken dishes under the sink. :)

Also love sticking a beer can up a chickens butt, think it's called, drunken chicken..lol..Well worth it though.
I don't break dishes Gail (-: the missus does enough of that LOL!
Yes Laura, beer is a great tenderiser, sometimes I get some nice steak pieces & soak them in beer for about an hour or so, then slow cook on the barbie, the meat melts in your mouth.(-: I then use a fair bit of the left over beer to make rich beef gravy.

Using the beer to make a rich beef gravy is a very nice idea. Will have to remember to do that. Just reccently Beer & Brewer had a little magazine with all different recepies in it..matching beer with food..And probably cooking with it too.
I <3 Beer :D!
Hopefully anyone new would realise what a fun group this is and join in the fray. :)
