Awwwwwwww!!!! You are absolutely right they are wonderful! love their names :D I have a mini Schnauzer...love of my life! ;)

Finding time to read as much as I would like is a challenge these days - mostly it's on the bus (if I can find a seat). Having ebooks on my phone is great - being able to dive into a book when there is a spare moment is a luxury of modern life.
I write a bit too - I have a blog about how my wife and I are attempting to eating our way along King St in Newtown and a book that I published last year.
I'm still trying to figure out how Goodreads works in practice - I guess its one of those learn as you do things. I'm looking forward to learning about new books.
Welcome Andrew, lovely to have you with us:) Feel free to browse the threads, (I notice you've found the author spotlight section already!) and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask:)

I'm really happy for you both Neil:) It's wonderful to have little ones in your life...enjoy it while they're young as well!

Welcome Anabelee, it's lovely to have you with us - and lovely of Vicki to recommend us to you as well:)

I'm a reader and a writer, too. I signed a contract with a traditional publisher last year and my debut novel is on its way (a topic for the Authors Spotlight perhaps). I hope nobody will consider me the spectre at the feast if I do talk about my book someday - I don't wish to steal the spotlight from the courageous and determined self-publishers that pass through here.
I do love to read, and my taste is eclectic. I'm searching for that perfect sentence, the one that makes you stop and want to say the words aloud. This is also why I write: I've written a few sentences that I'm very proud of, but the ones I read are always much more brilliant. I see the readers here have all selected favourite quotes, so I believe that this search is not an unusual one and is perhaps something we can share.
I'm also interested in hearing insights. I started writing to create the kind of stories that I wanted to read, so there's no better place for a writer (and a reader!) than in the company of other readers. Having said that, I'm just happy to talk about books.
I look forward to many interesting discussions (though I hope I'm much less loquacious in the future).

Also welcome to Graham. Great to have another writer join us.
Welcome Graham, nice to have you with us :) Please feel free to create your own thread in the Author Spotlight section (as you mentioned) and tell us about your work.
