Karen (joy4ki) G'day.
I'm an Aussie living southwest of Tokyo, who has probably lost her accent. I hail from Budgewoi, Central Coast, NSW between Newcastle & Sydney but for most of my adult life lived in several SE Asian countries returning to Japan in between.
Read mostly romances but alternate between contemporary bikers/rock or sport stars to historical & westerns with a little fantasy/paranormal thrown in. Favourite author presently is Kristen Ashely. However, I joined this group to be introduced to other avenues of discovery.

Hi, I'm Caitlyn, I'm a 16 years old and live in Australia, and have been reading since I was really young. Aside from 'little kid books' I started reading Harry Potter when I was 4 (with a little help) and have kept reading since then. I love fantasy the most because it is what I grew up reading, but in the past few years I have been reading more Science Fiction, Contemporary, Paranormal and many more.
I also love to write, I have always wanted to be an author and I believe I will never change my mind. Whenever I come up with an idea, it goes strait into my book so I don't forget it. Because I am still in school, and coming up to my final years in High school, I am having less time to read, but I always make time to read, even if it is only a chapter a day ;)
I am in many fandoms, books, movies, TV shows etc. and fangirl a lot. I loves shows like, Pretty Little Liars, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Once Upon a Time and a few others.
I listen to a weird range of music, including Rock, Heavy Metal and Techno, which weirds a lot of people out.
I am random and weird and a daydreamer, I live in a world of my own, with the characters and worlds that I am in love with, and my friends keep getting annoyed when I enter my 'mind palace' because I don't pay attention to the real world when I'm there.
Reading is my life as it is yours, and I can't imagine my life without my books.

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 290 comments Hello, I've joined the Aussie Readers Group because I discovered that some Australians have been reading the books I've written. That's not the only reason - I have a lot of Aussie connections, probably 30 or more friends and relations live in Aus and I whip over as often as I can. My brother took me on a wonderful tour from Mollymook to Sydney and I can't wait to visit again.

Thank you for opening your group to poms - I promise not to whinge.

K | 1143 comments Hi everyone,

I'm Kiera. I am brand new to the group- I just joined a couple of hours ago. I am 31 years old and I live in Logan region in QLD with my husband- a Brissie native- and our two dogs, two guinea pigs and nutso little budgie. I was born and raised on the NSW Far North Coast. I was born in Lismore (1983), worked in Lismore(2001-2009), but did all of my schooling in Alstonville(1989-2001), before studying veterinary nursing in Tamworth(2002-2003). As I couldn't find a job in the Veterinary industry, I ended up finding a job with Bunnings(2004-present) and- apart from having a year away- have been there ever since. I lived abroad for a year in Zurich, Switzerland (Oct 2005-Sept 2006), where I was a nanny and I LOVED it. I actually didn't want to come back to Australia. Lol! I had always been interested in travelling, but that year away really meant that I was bitten by the bug!

My interests are reading (of course), writing, travelling, music and I am a mad animal lover, but most especially dogs. My dream in life is to be a well-travelled, crazy dog lady by the time I am old. Lol. I now work at Bunnings Cannon Hill and volunteer my Tuesdays at Animal Welfare League @ Stapylton. I am also interested in conservation.

Types of books I love are very wide ranging. I love almost any fiction genre- though I am not so fond of murder mysteries, and I love non fiction books about animals, travel, nature, history and books about different countries and cultures.

message 5634: by Kylie (new)

Kylie | 3 comments Hi everyone,
Thanks for inviting me to the group! It's so amazing to connect with so many people who love reading as much as I do.
I guess I should first put it out there that I am an author of children's and YA books, but I haven't joined this group to promote my books. I've loved books since I could read and since becoming an author, I've been able to connect with other people who I can 'talk' books with. Before that, I just kept to my own little reading world. So being an author has opened up so many doors, I didn't know existed.
So a bit more about me: I am 27, I live in Western Sydney, I'm a part-time teacher librarian in a primary school, I love tea and chocolate. At the moment, I mostly read YA, as that's the books I'm writing.
I'm looking forward to joining in lots of great discussions with you guys!

Anna Faversham (annafaversham) | 290 comments Goodness - what a lot of people joining!

My thanks to Sharon, Leonie, Sally 906, Suzanne and Phrynne for such a warm welcome.

Phrynne, I live in Kent and surprisingly it is about 18c today and sunny. For October, that's terrific. (Being English I talk about the weather all the time!)

It's good to see there's a few pompoms in the group (poms whinge, pompoms dance).

Welcome to Kiera, Caitlyn, and Kylie (tea and chocolate, sigh, I need some now).

message 5649: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Gerada | 60 comments Hi all, I've just joined the group...at least I think I'm in; I have been at my laptop for what seems like days , trawling thru various sites and blogs trying to find where I should 'land'. Then I found Goodreads/ Aussie reader...Phew!
I live in Sydney's south, commonly known as 'The Shire" with my husband. We have four kids, grown up married with families. I am a prolific reader, and have always loved to write. Three years ago I won a contest with my memoir..prize was a copy of my book in paperback. This is not commercially available at present. Just a couple of months ago I had my book made into an e-book and it's out there in cyber-space.Hence my arrival at Goodreads.I am trying to get around blogs, blogging and so on and tearing my hair out in the process. Right now I don't have a pic I can put up but am attending to that asap. Right now I'm reading a couple of books..or three. I usually seem to have a few on the go at once. I love reading memoir, Helen Garner, and lots of fiction; never read fantasy or witchcrafty type books, but hey..there's still time. I'm looking forward to interacting with my newfound Goodreads/ Aussie Readers.
Ciao, Margaret
