Haven't read it Billie, will look out for it

I'm from Melbourne and am studying Literature and Composition, so needless to say I LOVE BOOKS!!
I'm in a few other book clubs but they're all based in the States, so I'm looking forward to doing some quarterly challenges that actually correspond to our seasons! :)
Welcome Ash, it's great not to have to call you TAT;) It'll be lovely for you to join our challenges...enjoy the group!

No you're right there Carolyn...we're only 13 days in:)

Yep, that was actually the challenge I was referring to!! In one of my other groups I'm doing a "Fall" challenge - still fun, but I'm looking forward to getting stuck into the Spring Challenge as well!

Welcome Ash - nice to talk to the person instead of the magazine - mind you it's nice to say I'm chatting to a magazine and no one thinks I'm mad :)

I didn't see anything that said I have to be living in Australia to be part of your group here. I found the group name and noticed that I have a few friends here. :)
My name is Cherie. I live in the Pacific Northwest corner of the USA, about 20 miles from Portland, Oregon. I have been reading books set in Australia all year and I have a huge list of books compiled TBR on my Australia shelf, here on GR. I have a map of Australia on my wall in my den to look up locations.
I wish I could visit someday, but that remains to be seen. If I can't do it physically, then I can certainly do it via books and getting to know the current and past inhabitants. I don't know how active I will be, but I thought I should "check in".

Welcome Cherie - we have members from all over the world here - you will soon find your list of Aussie authors is going to grow.

After living in the USA for 3 years it is so good to be back home. I live in Adelaide.
But, I have had a tough time adjusting to being back. Books are cheap and plentiful in the USA. I visited a couple of bookstores (my preferred method of buying books) since I have been back and have had a shock at (a) the lack of range, and (b) the price!!! I use the library quite a bit too and I think that will probably now rank as my top book stop.
I am also a reading challenge junkie, and so look forward to checking out the challenges in this group. Like Ash, I am a member of quite a few Goodreads groups based in the Northern Hemisphere and didn't think about the difference in seasons until I went to sign up for a Fall challenge and thought to myself that I really should be thinking about Spring :)
Happy reading!!
Margaret

Welcome Margaret - just so happens we have a Spring challenge going on and there is plenty of time to get it completed.
Welcome Margaret, it's lovely to have you with us. As Sally said we have seasonal and monthly challenges so feel free to join any or all of them :)

Welcome Margaret :) I totally understand your book issue, I totally agree with you re. cost. I usually borrow and mostly buy only second hand. It probably really is the reason I'm not a buyer of new books. It will be an adjustment for you, but you'll find from many of the Aussie Readers that online is the way to go. I haven't don't this much as if I can't do something quick I don't do it, but it works for many of them. Welcome back to Aus!

Hi Mary! Welcome - I'm from the Upper Hunter - Muswellbrook :)

I was very pleased to find a group of Aussies in here, and look forward to making a few friends and discovering new Aussie authors.
Full disclosure: I wasn't born in Australia, but when I first washed ashore in Port Jackson in 1990, I knew I was home. After spending a decade in Sydney, I moved up to Tamborine Mountain in SEQ.
I'm an avid reader, and an Author. I have so far written three novels, and just published the first entitled Heather, which is set mainly in Kings Cross.
Good to be here
AJ
