It's sounds like you're an amazing reader, and you've had no problems picking up the English language - you sound well spoken and well read. Awesome! My girls are in year 6 and 7, so probably a bit younger than you.

Yes indeed it was, That made it all the more appealing, to recognise the street names and be able to picture it all.

I'd already read the Railwaymans Wife and didn't even know where Thirroul was until I saw it going past in the train. I really liked that I'd been through somewhere a book I'd read was based in. It made it more relevant to me

My name is Mary and I've been a Goodreads contributor for ages. But this is the first time I've joined a discussion group. Mainly I read Australian, UK and US literature, crime fiction, historical fiction and general stuff. In the past few days I've read two fantastic books: "Gone Girl" by Gillian Flynn and "The Wreckage" by Michael Robotham, and right now I'm into "Wool" by Hugh Howey. This latest book has got me sucked right in. I used to enjoy what I would call 'classic' Science Fiction, Alternative History and Dystopian Fiction. It seems to me that the boundaries of SF have been blurred a lot and lumped in with Fantasy, which to me is a distinctive genre of its own. I've just posted a review of "The Narrow Road to the Deep North", which is a book that has given me a great deal to think about. I'm hoping that this forum is an opportunity to share ideas about and reactions to recently read books.
