Hi everyone, I'm Heather. I've been on Goodreads for 2-3 years, but only in the last year have I joined in on discussions... and today found this group while looking up Cloudstreet to see if anyone has discussed it.

I live in Perth, I'm married, have 2 kids (so not enough time to read), I work part-time as an accountant.

I'm ashamed to say I haven't read very many Aussie books ! But, I'm slowly doing so now. My favourite genre is Dystopian... but really love all sorts, just not a fan of romance anymore... although don't mind a bit of romance in amongst thrillers/mysteries/general - if that makes sense.

I'm an Aussie of many generations on Mum's side, and with a Yorkshire Dad.

But Rusalka is a screen name I've used for many years (my real name is ridiculously boring), and is a Slavic mythological creature, thought to be the souls of virgins who have died and now live at the bottom of ponds waterways singing with their beautiful voices and luring unsuspecting men to their deaths.

Read into that how you will ;)

Hi Heather, did you see the movie of Cloudstreet...actually it was a miniseries in 2011 and can now be bought on DVD.... it was very good IMO....very heavy but very well done.
Lots of terrific Aussie authors and stories here, so you are in the right place! :)

Sally, I don't care so much about the proper names being anime and manga. My Japanese friends call American cartoons 'anime' and American comics 'manga' anyway, so I figure differentiating between the two shouldn't matter so much. They're both pretty much the same things anyway.
