Emily Saaen (emilysaaen) | 2 comments Hello everyone (:

Name's Em. Moved from Russia to Australia 1.5 years ago with my hubz. Listening to an audiobook while knitting somewhere quiet and nice (in a park, on a beach, etc.) is my favourite pastime. I'm still quite overwhelmed by racial diversity here, all people are so beautiful and friendly! Guess, we're gonna stay for good (:

Reading has always been a HUGE part of my life (kiddie readers with a searchlight under a blanket, raise yor hand). Thank you for sharing your insights, guys and girls! This group is an invaluable resource, even though I can't possibly hope to assimilate this whole cultural background, you're providing a solid starting point (:

I love YA Fantasy books, and I'm a fangirl, big time. I also love the Disney movie Frozen!

I have quite a few fictional boyfriends, AND THEY ARE ALL MINE!!!

I can't think of anything else to say...

G'day Em. Welcome to the group. I'd love to learn to knit, but not much use for woollies here in the tropics :)

Valerie (nicehotcupoftea) | 837 comments Hello everyone. I'm from Melbourne, which at the moment is covered in a smoky haze from Victorian bush fires. This has been a terrible summer and we are desperate for some rain.
I joined the Reading Challenge group this year to help motivate myself to get back into reading. Have been a reader all my life, but found I would get distracted by modern devices, wandering around on the Internet, or playing moves in word games etc. So I committed to 25 books this year and have read four and I am really enjoying being a reader again.
I joined this group to get an Australian perspective.
I have three kids, with only the youngest still at school. I love music, playing the piano, running, handcrafts, digital art, and footy.

Danielle | 2 comments Hello! I'm Danielle an I love in Melbourne. I love my books and my walls are covered with them, and my iPhone full of ebooks. Don't want to risk being caught without something to read :)
I love most genres particularly crime and mystery thrillers but recently I have fallen in love with the outlander series by Diana Gabaldon. I really enjoy any series of books when I enjoy the writers style and characters. I love watching the characters grow and it feels they become friends.
Feel free to add me as a friend, would love to talk more with other people with the same love of books as I have.

Sharon J | 26 comments Hi all. While I'm not new to Goodreads I am to this group. I live in rural Victoria and enjoy travelling. I have always read a lot and worked for a while as a library assistant which gave me access to a lot of new books. I now have an e reader and just love having so many books at my finger tips. I also belong to a couple of libraries which allows me to borrow a lot of ebooks. I joined the this group because I love reading books set in Australia as well as Australian authors, though I do love Dianna Gabaldon and have read all of her Outlander Series.
I try and keep a look out for new authors. Have read all of Kerry Greenwood's novels and those of the new author Rebecca James (though her target group is young adults - I still loved reading her novels and also enjoyed meeting her).
So looking for some new authors....
Haven't written any reviews yet but might think about that in the future.....
Cheers Sharon

Hi, my name is Ceyrone Juan Antonio Abdulkayder Akkawi, but everyone calls me Ak. I live in Sydney and I am a high school teacher and I teach English, I also tutor primary kids for the selective school test. Currently I'm doing post graduate study to become a journalist, my passion has always been to write.

I am avid reader, and am prone to read anything that tickles my fancy, not one to let society dictate what I should read because of my gender. I devour anything by Paulo Coelho, Jose Saramago, Ursula le Gwinn and 'persuasion' by Jane Austen is one of my favorite novels.

I am an adventurer, explorer, a traveller and an everyday seeker of hedonism. I write, draw and paint in my spare time, which is not enough, but it's something.

Adrian Deans (adriandeans) | 143 comments Hello, I've been dipping in and out of goodreads for a while now but it's always been a bit of a vacuum for me - mainly because I didn't know there were groups like this one. Hooray! My favourite writers tend to be non-Australian (eg, Irvine Welsh, Vonnegut, Heller, Orwell), but there are some Oz writers I really love (Peter Carey, Janette Turner Hospital). I've read Marcus Zusak's The Messenger (not bad) and have just (believe it or not) started The Book Thief. I found the first 50-odd pages hard because it felt like the craft was getting in the way of the story, but having reached p 81, I can confirm that it's starting to consume me.

I am an author but have read the rules, so shall say no more about that here. Look forward to chatting.
