Introduce yourselves!

Welcome Shaun

G'day & welcome Shaun from over here on the "otherside". :)

Is that winery (Romavilla wasn't) still going, Kelly? Have not been out your way for a while and I don't see it on the local shelves. A good book and a good wine; you cannot go wrong.

Thanks Brenda. Good to be here."
I started a new thread for you too Bernie - https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/......"
Hi Brenda, Could you see whether I have done my book giveaway properly. I am not sure that I started a new topic. Thanks

The big thing for the town every year is the Booktown Festival over the first weekend of May each year. It's quite a spectacle.
My own writing is available in ebook format ... Lake Brambruck and Golton Island are both available through most ebook retailers. They are both set in the Wimmera.
My third novel, Corker's Creek will be released later this year — it is the third part of a trilogy.
Cheers, Douglas
Welcome Douglas, it's great to have you with us. To promote your work, please head to the Author Spotlight section https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... and make your own thread (top right hand side, click "new topic", and go from there) As this is the introduction thread, it's not the place for self promotion, as it will get lost within the posts - but with your own thread we can all check out your books, and perhaps add them to our TBRs:) If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Welcome Celia! Lovely to have you with us. If you'd like to head to the Author Spotlight section, you can make your own thread to promote your work. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...
Enjoy browsing the threads:)
Enjoy browsing the threads:)

Thank you Brenda! I'll do that.

Thank you!"
Was it hard setting a novel somewhere you've never been> I just published one set in Brittany France, and not now but 1000 years ago. Talk about a research headache!

Hi Sharon
Well, I did a lot of research but then I actually went out to Australia for 6 weeks and combined a visit to see my family with extensive research and an Australian friend here helped me a lot too - bless him. I loved being there - it was a great experience for me.
I think it really helps to go to a place if you can but you can't always do that can you? I've been to Italy a lot and to many places but in my third book I wrote about a place I hadn't been to and why did I do that? Just seemed right for the story... I admire you for writing about Brittany from 1000 years ago - that must have been really tough, but what a great achievement to have done it. I shall have to check it out...
Very best
Celia
It's really hard

Thanks Brenda, I'm still "feeling" my way around, and appreciate all hints. I'll check this out when I get a chance next week.

Brenda suggested that I say hi here. Well, Like all of you,I read lots, and I write a bit about the things that I read. It's a lot of fun but for me there is a professional dimension to it as well as I am writing my PhD on the author Peter Carey, his fiction, his reception, his writer-persona and all that stuff. I am based in Melbourne University. About the books that I like - I read all sorts of good writing, but my primary interest, at the moment, is contemporary Australian fiction.
Today was my first day here, which I loved. Looking forward to being part of the group.
Cheers Brenda, cheers everyone,
Keyvan
P.S: It's so hot in Melbourne!
Welcome Keyvan, as I said, it's lovely to have you with us :) Enjoy browsing the threads and try to stay cool! Your PhD sounds great, an interesting topic. A popular choice of reading too, a lot of us are enjoying contemporary Australian fiction at the moment.

Welcome to the group Keyvan :)

my niece plays the clarinet for her town band, and my nephew plays the saxophone and he is very good at it. Is studying music - he is the Newcastle orchestra and wants to study at the Sydney conservatory of music next year.

My name's Bonny and I'm from Perth. I'm a married mum of 2 boys. I LOVE reading and can't imagine life without books! I specifically enjoy biographies (esp. Christian testimonies), historical fiction, Holocaust memoirs, chick lit... well, the list goes on. I have read a few books by Aussie authors such as- Jacqueline Pascarl-Gillespie, Kate Shayler, Helen Garner, Michele Drouart, Jessica Rudd, Johanna Nicholls just to name a few. Most recently, I've read The Washerwoman's Dream: The Extraordinary Life of Winifred Steger 1882-1981 who was actually born in England, but grew up in Australia's remote outback and had a very hard life. It's a long book, but well worth the read, in my opinion, if you like biographies :)
I'm looking forward to getting to know how this group works, as it's the first and only one I've joined! Most importantly, I'm looking forward to good book recommendations!
Welcome Bonny, great to have you with us:) We have some recommendation threads, and lots of others which will help with your choices - enjoy browsing and finding some new books and authors:)

My name is Yuan, from Melbourne (though I'll probably always been a Brissie girl at heart). I grew up loving books but for the last six years or so, I haven't been able to read much due to my university load. But now that I've graduated, I'm finding myself back in the local library again!
My favourite genre is fantasy, regardless of whether it is YA or adult. I do enjoy a bit of everything though - contemporary, historical, paranormal, chick lit, non-fiction etc. The only two I struggle with are horror (I get scared easily) and sci-fi (tried Asimov but simply couldn't do it).
I guess the reason I'm joining this group is because I want to connect with other book-lovers, share my favourite books and get some good book recommendations in return. I'm still quite new to this process but I'm looking forward to diving into this group and joining some discussions! :D
Hope you all have a good day wherever you are!
Welcome Yuan, it's great to have you with us! Enjoy browsing, and if you have any questions, just ask:) Congratulations on your graduation too!
