Welcome Jennifer, it's great to have you with us:) I'm close to the Central Coast in Newcastle area:)

Hi Dale, my name means September in Sri Lankan but I was actually born in October and I wasn't born late so I don't know what my parents were thinking :)

Oh well, people are often called April, May or June in Western culture - is "September" a common name in Sri Lankan culture? But I'm guessing not, from your previous response. Maybe your parents were just so excited they wished you were coming in September!
Welcome anyway, Binari, and to all the new members!

Hi Helen.
Welcome Helen, great to have you with us:) Enjoy browsing the group, I'm sure you'll find lots to interest you:)

Welcome Kristy - I'm new to this too!
Welcome Lee, it's great to have you with us! From the sounds of your introduction, you will fit very well into this group:) You'll find lots of different threads which I'm sure you'll be interested in..enjoy!

Hi Lee and welcome. Interesting collection of authors you have discovered in the process as will as those you didn't like. I like your icebreaker. A better option as far as I'm concerned than 'what do you do?' I used to hate that. I don't like defining people by what they do for a living. Maybe that's just me. I still think being read to as children gives kids their best start even if it doesn't always 'take' as you discovered. Lovely to meet you.

I haven't read 'Gone Girl' myself but I've now seen many negative comments about it. So how did it get so 'hot' around the world? What was it that you didn't like so much?

I saw recently, there are quite a series on this Confessions of such and such exist. But, seriously, Confessions of a Window Cleaner? Wow...Personally, i try to avoid books that over rated, Gone Girl, Twilight and the gang, also the 50 shades series. Must admit, i do end up read them somehow, but never on my top tbr list. and never enjoy them or over excited by it all. In fact, most of those highly popular books are somewhat rather unpopular on my list. :)

Hi Lee, your reading tastes sound so similar to mine!

I couldn't stand the characters and couldn't be bothered reading about them. Maybe not fashionable to say but I need to like and care about my characters. Also not my genre to read, usually. There's always an exception. For me this wasn't it. Like your comment Lee about reasons not to read or watch crime and agree.
David wrote: "Lee wrote: "Hi David, Creepy, manipulative characters. I misjudged the blurb. I didn't realise it was crime fiction.I never read crime friction, nor do I watch it on TV. It is usually the women or ..."
David would you mind going to the Author section to promote your book please? Thanks. https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...

Perhaps you can all continue your discussions about these books etc in the thread "Your least favourite book and why"... https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... It will make for interesting thoughts:)

Of course Brenda, I was just responding to some points.
