I've got two Too-Read bookshelves. One is the standard Too-Read and the other is Too-Read-On-Self. I find it easier that way. and I've set a book shelf to exclusive it works really well.

Now my exclusive shelves look like this;

read
currently-reading
to-read
on-hold
to-read-on-shelf
unfinished

It's very have; I've not had a book that I didn't finish, but It's nice to know I have the option now and it doesn't show as a read book.

I like shelves, I have heaps of them

Matthew Lang (matthewlang) | 143 comments I have a few books I've never finished--like Ulysses and The Story of O being the main two. The problem is I have little to no intention of finishing either of them. :p

Hello Lesley (good name that, one of my granddaughters shares it.) I live in country Qld too, small town in farming area.

Share much of your taste! Love all historicals, unless they take too many liberties with the truth. I've written one, described as a romance but with a strong plot which I think puts in the H.F. class.

A member of our local writers group has self-published some travel memoirs. Pity he couldn't get pubbed professionally because they're really good. English born, drove a Mini across the Sahara and lived in Zimbabwe (Rhodesia) for 20 years.

We all have TBR mountains! So many books, so little time. Enjoy your reading.

Monya (aka Mary)

Maybe so--although I did read those two pages of Ulysses when I was in year 8, so it's entirely possible the text was too advanced for me at that time. However, the other excerpts I've read since haven't put me in love with the writing of James Joyce.

I just found the Story of O offensive, and quite misogynistic, and to be honest, if I hadn't needed to read it for class I probably would have put it down after two chapters, rather than two thirds, but there you go. I'm sure other people probably feel differently about it, but I have to admit it's also put me off purchasing BDSM books in general, because I can never tell in advance how an author will treat the topic. Possibly sad, but there you go.

Dont sweat it. We can't like every book we pick up. Finding a book that sparks your interest in the first place is a good thing, even if it turns out to be not what you were expecting. That's why we have free will - we can put it right back on the shelf if it's not for us.

Life is way too short to read books you don't enjoy.

message 1308: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi all,

A new friend, Jacqueline brought me over to this group with an email that was sent in regards to an Australian Writers Network (Thanks Jacqueline xx).

So now about me. I live in Frankston, Victoria with my husband, 2 son's, my eldest sons ficance, 2 dogs, 3 fish and 1 cat and my very adorable and lovable grandson every other weekend.

I write under the name of Vampirique Dezire and had my first story print published in an anthology in February this year.

My chosen genre to write is Erotica and I dabble in all the sub-genres of it, trying to find one that suits me to a tee!

Now I am waiting for July to come around as I have another 2 stories coming out in e-book format with a brand new e-book publishing house, Naughty Nights Press. It was the owner who befriended me nearly 18 months ago and introduced me to an amazing group of talented writers. At that time Gina had not started NNP but was an extremely patient mentor who liked what I wrote and encouraged me to do submissions and helped me to refine areas of my writing that I knew I was lacking in.

Now with all of that going on I was offered a job with NNP a couple of months ago as their Director of Marketing and Research. I will admit I am having a ball finding sponsors for the website and getting the name of NNP out there as our grand opening happens on July 1st. The one thing I will admit to is the fact that it seems weird working for a Canadian company *giggles* but I suppose on the internet, distance is not important.

I have my own blog where I do book reviews, interviews, publicizing different things that are happening with NNP, my friends who have new books coming out or as in the case of today a good friend who is doing his first book signing.

Well I think that covers everything but please if you want to know anything else, let me know and I'll be happy to answer your queries.

*bites n kisses*

Jan (auntyjan) I just hit 55 and last year I broke my arm rollerblading. I'm a grandma and this year I've added Zumba to my activities(and still rollerblading, ice-skating and tap dancing). I refuse to act my age, and highly recommend acting half your age if you can get away with it...yes it's a mad place but so great to have Aussies of all ages here...everyone is so friendly here(pass the Vegemite please, Brenda)...oops just had a slightly dyslexic moment there and typed Breadn which does go with Vegemite but isn't the way Breand, I mean Brenda usually spells her name. I'm usually a good speller but it's late...I know, people my age should be in bed...I'm going...

Rosanne Just an update to tell you all how my book is going - According to Luke was launched by my publishers on March 29 and it started selling right away, especially on Amazon and the Book Depository. The eBook and paperback are both popular.

If you are going to be in Perth around May 26 let me know, so I can send you an invitation to my exhibition launch. I would love to meet as many readers from Goodreads as possible.

I started a book giveaway on Goodreads for According to Luke, and gave everyone plenty of time to join, so look it up because it's a good chance to get the paperback free. Quite a few people are interested so far. If this one goes well and enough people ask, I might run another one in the Winter. According to Luke by Rosanne Dingli

Louise (loupie) Hi Aussie book readers, I'm new to the group having found it yesterday at work when I was looking for online places to post about my library service's book festival, Literati. I signed up to Good Reads a while ago but there was so much happening on the groups I hung back, just lurking!

Anyway... I'm Loupie, which as it's a contraction of my name, works in both a literal and illustrative sense. I read lots and lots - pretty much everything except Westerns and spy novels - and I'm a librarian, which gives me the key to the book cupboard of my dreams. Ahhhh, extra loans for staff!

I grew up in Brisbane and then I went and lived overseas and then I came back and then I went and lived overseas and then I came back and now I'm living on the Gold Coast which isn't far from Brisbane.... geographically, anyway.

Happy to be here on Aussie Readers and looking forward to some kicking book recommendations. Bring it on, lovelies!

Tracey Alley (traceya) | 485 comments So many new people to say hi to - so Hi!. I've been away from the group for so long I almost feel like I should re-introduce myself. I'm Trace and just come out of a very looooong stay in hospital to treat a pretty rare blood condition. I ended up having to have a bone marrow transfer - thankfully my eldest niece was a perfect match and willing volunteer - but all up I've been in hospital for close to four months so I'm way behind on my 'welcome wagon' duties.

Also way behind on the release of the final book in my Witchcraft Wars fantasy series, Slade's Destiny, but am now working hard to get it out as soon as possible.
Cheers all and I'll try to be a little more diligent :)
