Welcome to the group Tia. My grandmother encouraged me to read as well. I am doing the same for my grandchildren now. They always gets books for birthdays and Christmas along with other stuff. The two boys love their books :)
Hi Fi. Welcome to the group. I can SO relate to that housework allergy I suffer from it as well. I understand there is no know cure so we just have to get on with life as best we can ;)
Hey, I'm Nikki and i'm only fourteen! so young! Yeah, my grandma has read and collected lots of books which i hope i will collect one day. But in the meantime i'm reading lots of YA novels and catching up on some of my childhood, with the books I missed out on! I hope to continue reading lots of books and find new and exciting Australian Authors in the YA genre.
Hi NikkiThere are lots of Aussie YA authors in all the different genres. I am sure you will find lots of stuff :)
Hello everyone, I'm Charles (C. S.) living in the bush between Bathurst and Mudgee , a quiet place to write in the old Ferret House, already insulated. Not quite sure how goodreads works but happy to be part of it.
Welcome Charles, it's great to have you with us. Some clues for you as you are a newbie AND an author to boot!!
To promote your work, open your own thread in the Author spotlight section https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... (top RHS, "new topic", go from there)
When you want to talk about your writing, your books, anything to do with that, you do it there. As we are predominantly a reading group we like our authors to have their own "spot" so to speak. If you have a "free/low priced" book to offer, go to the Giveaways folder https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... and open a thread there, or do it in your author thread.
Please feel free to browse the rest of the threads, and contribute/participate in the discussions whenever you want:) You would be most welcome.
If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask - there will always be someone willing to help out:)

Hi I'm Maureen, 53 & I live in Safety Bay in WA. Just moved here actually. I've always loved reading & as a child had my head stuck in a book so much that I would get in trouble for it. Now I'm loving non-fiction.
Welcome Maureen, great to have you with us:) You'll actually love the challenge we have for April, it's a non fiction month if you'd like to join in:)

Hi Brenda,I'm Lynnette and my mother is Linda so to avoid confusion between Lynn and Lin I usually go by my other name-Andrea.

That's fine, my mother isn't here so no chance of confusing the two of us :)
And hello Sharon, nice to meet you.

Michael wrote: "Hi Anujah, welcome to the group. You are right about reading being a distraction. Between it and this group it's amazing i get anything else done. :D"And add to that my electronic games I'm doomed!!!!
Anujah a warm welcome to the group :) I am guessing you are in your final year saying this year not a good year for distractions? Reading helps relax and de-stress too ;)
Hi to the moderators and group members. I'm Deray and live down in the south eastern part of Australia on the lovely Bellerine Peninsula. It's great to see the number of group members…and not just from Australia.
I look forward to getting to know you all better.
Deray

Welcome Deray, it's great to have you with us:) If you wouldn't mind editing your post to take out reference to your books, website etc as this is the introduction thread. We would love you to go to the Author spotlight section and make your own thread https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... Welcome Stan, lovely to have you with us. You live in a beautiful part of the world, somewhere I'd love to visit one day :)
Stan wrote: "Aloha from Maui. I'm Stan Morris. I have relatives who live in the suburbs of Brisbane."Welcome to the group Stan
Thanks, all. I ran across this group by accident. I had already started a thread listing Aussie authors on another group.
As you are an author Stan, if you go here https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group... you can make your own thread and promote your work there:) I appreciate you not mentioning that fact here in this intro thread:) It was a nice accident that you found us!!
Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, we all get a lot of posts from authors. I've been trying to explain to the new authors how to post, so that they don't annoy people. They are usually very appreciative of the info. I wish Goodreads would explain how to do this. It's easy to say what not to do. Harder to suggest how to do it.
Some of the authors KNOW what to do but choose to ignore it, and make a nuisance of themselves we have found! Fortunately in this group our authors play nice (mostly!);)
Hiya! I'm Rusalka. I've been lurking for a while, but should definitely introduce myself now. I'm from Canberra, and have been goodreads-ing for a few years. I mod another group but that is mainly Americans, Canadians and Europeans, so I started lurking to get a bit of an Aussie fix on the site. Look forward to raiding all your TBR lists.
Hi I am Margot and live in St Kilda. I have always been passionate about reading. I will read almost anything except horror, vampire and erotic fiction. I am a huge fan of crime fiction. My local library is great and does not charge for reservations which is lucky for me as I have up to 40 reservations at one time. I have been active on Goodreads since about July last year and have been lucky enough to win six books in that time. My favourite was The Vale Girl by Nelika McDonald.
