Hey guys! When you join, please comment here and tell us about yourself!

I'm Sandy, and I just created this group. I love sillybandz, chai tea, and being random. And I'm also a dirty sinner saved by God's amazing grace :)

Hey, y'all! I'm the other mod, Raven (as you can tell from the home page, loooooooooool)! =)

As Sandy put it, I'm "a dirty sinner saved by God's amazing grace" :) I love reading, writing, photography, playing piano, singing, and . . . SPAGHETTI!

Oh, and I appear to have misplaced my brain (well, I'm not quite sure I ever really had it), so I can be quiiiiiite strange. Disclaimer for ya. Just ask Sandy about how strange I can be :D

Well, ta for now!

David O'Brien II (davidobrienii) | 26 comments Hello.
I'm David. I'm a Christian sinner saved by the Grace of God.

I'm also a jazz studies major at Wayne State University. I play saxophone, flute and piano. I hope that through my life and music that I can glorify Jesus Christ.

As for personality, I'm a bit on the quiet side unless you talk to me about music, theology or several other select areas. I'm friendly though and will gladly answer any questions.

Glad to be a part of this group! :-)

Yup! =) I LOVE music, though the only instrument I play right now is piano :) I like to compose my own songs actually.

Ha ha ha ha that was a great intro, Alex! :D :D Welcome!

Do you have any recordings of the songs that you've composed?

Raven and I are both working on sheet music… (musescore.org is AWESOME in case you've never heard of it!). The two of us want to start a singing group together, but it's hard since we live four hours away from each other :)

Yeah, we live like four to five hours away from each other :/

David, I haven't made too many recordings of my songs (I've done a couple) but I'd like to try to get some more done soon so that I can burn them on a disk and just have like a hard copy of my work :) And I guess compose isn't exactly the right word for what I do, because while I make up songs I usually don't write them down; I just store them in my head :) Do you ever compose any songs?

Yes. I've written a few. Most of the stuff that I do is transcription, which is when you take something down from a recording and transfer it into notation.

Sadly I don't have any recordings of the pieces that I've written.

David O'Brien II (davidobrienii) | 26 comments By the way, I have Finale.

message 13: by Laura, On Christ the solid rock I stand . . . (new)

Laura | 59 comments Mod
Oh okay! I've heard of Finale but never tried it out - does it work well?

message 14: by David (new)

David O'Brien II (davidobrienii) | 26 comments Raven wrote: "Oh okay! I've heard of Finale but never tried it out - does it work well?"

Yeah. It's far better than any of the free stuff. I can do quite a lot with it, but it can be difficult to use, especially if you're trying to do snare drum parts for marching band. I doubt someone like you would use it for that purpose ;-)

Ha ha yeah I don't think so :D But I really wanna try it for piano sometime :) :)

If you have a Midi keyboard you can enter the parts into the program that way. Some people think that this takes longer but others think it's a lot faster.

Elizabeth (elizabethnovak) Hello my name is Elizabeth, I am also a Christian sinner saved by the Grace of God.

Well most of my time is spent reading, I also enjoy music (mostly classical), I play the piano (a little), and hopefully will be starting lessons on the violin soon.
I love to do things with my hands like sewing, spinning, crochet, drawing and writing my own stories! I live on a farm with lots of animals, so many in fact that I won't make a list of all of them, (Unless you really want to know, I don't mind if you do!) but I will say that we have a cow and goats!

I think I know all of you, expect David! Nice to meet ya David!
It's great to be part of the group!

We actually have a digital piano, and I'm pretty sure there's a way to use Finale with it . . . I just have to look into it :)

Welcome, Elizabeth!!!! =)

Yup! I love to read and write too (aaas you already know xD) :D :D How many stories are you writing at the moment? I'm writing twenty some stories . . . lol too many :) Lots of them are fantasy, actually! =)

message 21: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (elizabethnovak) Cool! I writing two right now (lol! Twenty that's a lot!). One Fantasy/fairy tale and the other one is kinda like a Historical novel, it's set in Old England!

Raven actually has 25 stories that she's started, but sadly gets bored and starts a new one at least every month. Haha I try to stop her from giving life to all these books and then killing them :) I've only got three and they're not as far.

Sandy, I have not killed a single one! xP They are still alive, and you know that one of my stories is over four hundred pages long and is finished (though it needs ceeeeeenturies and milleeeeeeeniums of editing :D :D :D ) and I'm workin' on the sequel :D So really some of my stories just sit and wait until I rediscover them, get an idea surge for them, write them, and then move on to the next one. It's a never-ending cycle! :) And it's not death xP

And by the way, I can't help it that I'm always starting new stories!!! *whines pathetically* I get ideas from EVERYTHING! ^ ^

:D

$40 bucks . . . 'spose it could be way worse . . . :)

Breezy | 1 comments Hello... I just joined. For by Grace I have been saved thru faith, and that not of myself, it is a gift from God. Not of works, lest I should boast(I kinda stole that one).
I'm 26, and I work hard at my relationship with Christ, some days more than others. I believe that I need to continue to work at my relationship with Christ so that on the day I go to Heaven I might hear from Him, "Well done, my good and faithful servant".

Yes, please do! :D

message 42: by austen (new)

austen (oncebef0re) Oops, I forgot to post my intro!

My name is Abby, AKA Pansy, a follower of Jesus. I'm the oldest of my family; I have six younger siblings and three little sisters in heaven (as you may guess, I love children!). I have light brown hair and eyes that won't decide whether to be blue or green. :) I'm 17 and in my senior year. I was homeschooled all my life but now I attend a local Christian high school. I love horses and goats and have a pet parakeet. I love to write, read, sing, play piano, talk *winks* and do crafts like cross stitch and jewelry making. I'm not sure if I have a favorite singer; I love music but not rock n roll. It gives me headaches. :( One of my favorite singers is Marty Goetz. My favorite sport is basketball (I also enjoy baseball although I can't play it), but I desperately want to learn fencing! :( I also love U.S. History, especially the American Revolution. I am writing a historical novel called "One Life to Give"; some of it is in the writing area on Goodreads. Please read it and comment on it if you have the time! Well, that's me! I'm a bit quirky at times but hopefully not too weird for most people. ;)

BTW, if you feel a sense of deja vu about this post, I recopied and updated it from another group. LOL

message 43: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth (elizabethnovak) Lol, that's what I do too.

I've read some of your novel; it's awesome!!!!!!! I hope you get it published someday!!!!!!!!!!!! If you do I'm totally buying a copy :)

And let's see . . . I think I just posted a new Elf Hunter chapter last week or something . . . I think it was Chapter Eleven. Not sure if y'all saw thought that x) But I'll still be trying to do another chapter soon ;)
