Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments After judging my progress from Saturday, this is what I am planning on reading Sunday.

Unperfect Souls (Connor Grey, #4) by Mark Del Franco , I have about 230 pages left in this one, Night Myst (Indigo Court, #1) by Yasmine Galenorn I'll Be Home for Christmas (Includes Bullet Catcher, #3) by Linda Lael Miller , I am only reading one story out of this anthology, Flat-Out Sexy (Fast Track, #1) by Erin McCarthy Forged of Shadows (Marked Souls, #2) by Jessa Slade .

This time around I have thrown in a couple of books that aren't PNR/UF so I don't get burnt out.

message 4: by Jess (new)

Jess | 3721 comments Flat Out sexy was a good book :)

message 5: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I am good to hear that Jess.

I am now up to page 193 in Unperfect Souls, but think for the next hour I will read the story in I'll be home for Christmas, I need a break for UF/PNR right now.

message 6: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments Well I have another hour down. I did finish my short story and even had time to go back to Unperfect Souls for 15 minutes. I am hoping that by the next check in I will be done, or at least very close.

message 7: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Hey darcy my power is out so I am using my phone. Reading dying bites just starting. Hope the power comes back soon ;-) atleast I have something to do!

message 8: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments That is sucks that your power is out! It takes something like that to make a person realize just how much you use things without realizing it. I am interested to see what you think of that book. There were somethings that I really liked but I was also bored reading it.

I am a little late checking in as I only had 25 pages left before finishing Unperfect Souls, I decided to finish it quickly. It was interesting, a real game changer in the series. Next I am going for Flat-Out Sexy. I need a fun, easy read. With the exception of the short story I have read all of the books I have been reading have been heavy on the world building and intricate stories and I need a break.

message 9: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments Changing books was a good thing for me as I just looked up at the clock and realized I was late for my check in. This book is fun and will be a fast read, I am 66 pages in already.

message 10: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Yeah I am back up power and all.

You know I have to agree with you I love electricity and running water! I know it sounds crazy but not being able to take a shower because you have no water heater or not being able to make coffee. We have had a lot of bad summer storms recently and the power has gone in and out as they repair the lines. I am just thankful I am not one of those who had lost power for a week.

At any rate I a about a third of the way in to Dying Bites. I agree something is off about it so I am co reading it with Embrace the Night. I am not sure which one I want to commit to finishing first. Maybe it is the world building that is making Dying Bites go so slowly I am like ok alternate universe which looks just like this one. Right! Then I switch to Cassandra and see what she is getting herself into LOL.

Anyway I see you are reading Mark Del Franco, he has been on my TBR for a while. I have the books and everything LOL I am glad you like it maybe I will get to book one :-)

Are you reading Night Myst? I hate her other series the witch one reminds me to much of a bad episode of charmed. I did want to read this one though because I think I could like her writing style.

message 11: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Oh and before I forget here are the books I am planning to read throughout this challenge.

Embrace the Night (Cassandra Palmer, #3) by Karen Chance Dying Bites (The Bloodhound Files, #1) by D.D. Barant Twice Bitten (Chicagoland Vampires, #3) by Chloe Neill Eternal Kiss of Darkness (Night Huntress World, #2) by Jeaniene Frost Tracking the Tempest (Jane True, #2) by Nicole Peeler Hard Magic (Paranormal Scene Investigations, #1) by Laura Anne Gilman Magic Lost, Trouble Found (Raine Benares, #1) by Lisa Shearin

Of course bear in mind I could change my mind at any point LOL

message 12: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments Glad to hear your power is back up Dawn! We need our creature comforts. :)

I find myself flipping between books when they bore me but not enough to quit. I find I will read 100 pages in one, then flip to the other, and then alternate back and forth. It usually helps me out.

You have picked good books! I am looking forward to Tracking the Tempest, thought the first was good for a new writer. I also have Hard Magic and Magic lost in my TBR list.

If you check out the Del Franco book, just be prepared for them to be slower than other books. They are heavy into world building and an involved story. I do like then, but know they aren't light and fluffy reads. He does have another series that isn't quite so heavy that is like the old tv show Alias with fae people that is good.

I will read Night Myst next. I like her other series, the sisters crack me up, and with them all being so different and the revolving POV it keeps me interested. I'll let you know how the new series is. Apparently is it s spin off of the Sister's series.

I am over half way through my book, page 160. Will be taking a break to eat lunch, listen to my audio book, and read the newspaper.

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments That is funny Darcy I do the same thing except I read about 50 pages and then switch. Usually by the time I get to the middle of both books I am read to finish one then I will go back and finish the next one. I am looking forward to Tracking the Tempest her first book was really good I hope this one is just as good! Good to know about Del Franco, I may read him when I start catching up on the breeds series that should be a nice buffer. Who knew there is like 9 books in that series I think I am on book #4.

I realized the thing about DD Barant is that she is heavy on world details. There is not a lot being revealed through conversations. I am only on page 91 so things could change. Hoping this books stays more urban fantasy and not pnr. I like Jace being an empath.

Meanwhile I feel for Cassie she is so torn between Mircea and Pritkin. I like Mircea but in a way it feels cliché on the other hand loyal little Pritkin is winning me over.

message 14: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I had hoped the Barant book was just issues with the 1st book, setting things up and such, but I felt the same way on the 2nd. I do know Jess loved them, so I was surprised when I was so far from what she thought as we have pretty similar taste.

I do like the Cassie books, but for me the series is just ok, so many people go nuts over then that I wonder what is wrong with me.

I do like those Breed books too, both the ones by Lora Leigh and Lara Adrian.

I am back to my book and have less than 75 pages left, so will finish by the next check in.

message 15: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments Well I finished my book and am now 35 pages into Night Myst. I am not sure what I think of it at this point. Next check should leave me with a better feel for it.

message 16: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Time for my check in I have committed to finish dying bites first. Outside of shortening the words to like pire or thrope I like Jace.

I am going to make my lunch and get back to it.

What to eat??

message 17: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I really liked her partner, for me he was one of the best parts of the story.

I am not 83 pages into Night Myst, still don't know what to think. But I think that I will flip to my other book, Forged by Shadows and do my 100 page thing.

message 18: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments I have a little under hundred pages left. Yeah I like Charlie he is funny weird he is a bag of sand.
I hope Forged By Shadows is a better book.

message 19: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I loved the whole duct tape issue with Charlie, that part had me cracking up!

Forged by Shadows started out slow, but has gotten better now, am on page 83, I want to keep reading this one, but will go back to the other one now.

message 20: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments Well I am at page 161 in Night Myst, it is getting better I will stick with reading this one as I am now half done with it and want to finish another one.

message 21: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Well I finished Dying Bites (The Bloodhound Files, #1) by D.D. Barant in the end I did like it. It had a few twists and turns that worked themselves out.

On ward to finish Embrace the Night (Cassandra Palmer, #3) by Karen Chance .

message 23: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments Well this last hour I didn't get any book reading done as I took time out to do laundry and cook dinner, so turned on the audio book. Back to a "normal" book for me.

I am glad that you liked it Dawn.

message 24: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments I have to tell you I am really loving my nook because I could still read while I was folding laundry really nice.

Good call on the audiobook Darcy!

message 25: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments Ok it is official, I need a break so I am going to walk my dogs for about twenty minutes and go get and ice cream sunday.

Also I just learned from this experience my favorite place to read is on the floor with my feet up on the couch in the living room. It is a great space because I do not have to go far to answer the door or hear when my son wants me. Who knew??

message 26: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I find that I almost always have an audio book to play when I am putzing around the house. I try to pick books that I wouldn't normally read. Right now it is Sandra Brown, I find her to be hit or miss, especially her older ones. I had a bunch of Linda Howard's earlier this summer. I like the light romances that I can listen with a half ear sometimes rather than really involved book.

I am tempted to get an e-reader, but I get most of my books from the library, so I don't know that it would be worth it, unless I get one I can use that is compatible with overdrive.

I only have 70 pages left on Night Myst, so should finish it by the next check in.

message 27: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I hope your ice cream was good Dawn! I have been craving it all day, but I have decided to give sugar up for the month and it is killing me!

I finished Night Myst, it was good, better as the book went. There were issues, which I hope just come from being the first in the series, I do plan on checking out the next one.

I am back to Forged by Shadows, I know I won't get it finished in the time we have left, but am hoping to reach page 250.

message 28: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments I am back what an eventful walk my neighbors dog was off the leash and tried to attack my dogs. I have no idea why people think just because their dogs like people means they will be submissive to all dogs. Thankfully it all worked out and all three dogs are fine.

I like audio books for spiritual stuff or sometimes political thrillers. I have to admit though I can only pay attention for a short while unless I am driving then they become a god send.

As for the e-reader I agree hence the nook. I can use it for library books and I can purchase from anywhere. I also find it is great for reading articles for my dissertation or for work since it works well with PDFs. I love the dictionary and the highlighting feature. I will also say that as overdrive gets better books I find myself checking there before I put a hold on a book at the library. I did not expect to enjoy it as much as I do.

I am still reading Embrace the night I am about 150 pages in and I tempted to switch to Twice Bitten just to have a lighter read. I like Karen Chance but the book can get dense at times with all of the time lines moving. We shall see!

message 29: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments Your walk sounds like a crazy time!

I haven't gotten around to trying overdrive yet, my library just got it at the beginning of the month, and I had just checked out 10 audio books, but once I get those done I will check out some. I find I can listen to my i-pod at work, so I try to keep a book loaded there and can read 1-2 books a week depending on the length.

Twice Bitten was a good one, much lighter than the Karen Chance book.

I am now at page 140 in my book, looks like I won't make 250, but come close.

message 30: by Dawn, Desperately seeking new worlds (new)

Dawn (dawnv) | 4058 comments I decided to take the break from Karen Chance, so far
I am about 100 pages in and I am really loving it!

message 34: by Darcy (new)

Darcy (sunnytat462) | 3123 comments I have to say that it seems like when you post how many books you go through it doesn't seem like a lot, but when you put the pages up it seems like more.
