when I enter the ISBN into Amazon, has two covers, one of which is -
http://www.amazon.com/Beyond-This-Hor...
which looks more 1989-like than the one it currently has, which also has a cover price of 75 cents which is not too likely for 1989. I think ISBN 0451156161 should have its cover changed to the Amazon cover linked to above. I can do that, since you don't seem to be a librarian.

The first edition you mentioned - B&N, Alibris, Abebooks & Google all state that the published date is 1960. Various Publishers - Penguin, NAL & Roc, which could be imprints of Penguin. None give a definitive cover image. And it's not listed on WorldCat or LoC.
The image on Amazon was uploaded by a member & Amazon info is notorious for inaccuracy.
My best guess would be to list it as another edition with all the available information. Books from 1960 wouldn't have an ISBN, books from early 1970's may or may not have them.

(Beyond This Horizon is about 1/4 of the way down)
I think the four editions listed as 1960, with an ISBN, are based off later printings of those from the 1960's and early 1970's. Later printings would sometimes add ISBN's retroactively. I couldn't find anything that would help match the ISBN with the editions listed in the above link, though. So at this point they are as accurate as I can make them (up through 1983).
As Lobstergirl stated, I would add yours as a new edition. It can always be merged later, if someone can match a (possibly retroactive) ISBN with it later.
BTW, Roc did not exist until 1990 (http://us.penguingroup.com/static/htm...). Anything listing Roc as a publisher before than date should be highly scrutinized.
And yes, the New American Library (NAL), and Roc are both part of the Penguin Group.

The best place to obtain really accurate information on old science fiction books is http://www.isfdb.org
From that site, I can see that you've got the wrong cover artwork.
The 1960 Signet edition has catalog id #S1891 and a cover painted by Sandy Kossin.
I'll try to fix up the editions of this book. Nothing really for me to fix - you guys did a good job.

Scratch that! I found that the old Signet book numbers match the last four digits of the ISBN (minus the check digit on the end). I'll work on getting them cleaned up further.
Therefore James, Y6392 should be ISBN 0451063929. I will correct the data as best I can. However, 1960 may be the original copyright of the Signet editions, and no other date may be available.
UPDATE: Based on the above I have updated the editions through 1979. I will double check the rest later. It's very late here, and I need some sleep. ;)

@ Lobstergirl: Thanks! The Signet Y6392 edition ("purplish" with the revolver & raygun) image is the one I was trying to locate - now I've got it added to my shelf here... And, I am a librarian, just not a very experienced one, so I'd rather err toward using caution rather than use the sledgehammer (which seems to be about the only tool in my tool chest so far)... Figured it can't hurt to ask.
@ Sandra & Bryan: Good info to have. Hope I can remember it when I need it.
@ vicki_girl: I also have the dubious honor of owning Y6382 (Methuselah's Children) and Y6383 (The Menace from Earth), both also by Heinlein, with cover art done in a similar fashion... Armed with your info, I'll see if I can locate those.
...but maybe after a few hours of sleep!

Therefore James, Y6392 should be ISBN 0451063929. "
I just wanted to note: As far as I can tell, the above only applies to the Signet books, and not other publishers/presses.
Clicking on the quick link to Amazon, you get http://www.amazon.com/Beyond-This-Hor... which is the Signet edition (the cover art for which is exactly like the copy I'm holding in my hand) - The Signet Y6392 edition doesn't have ISBN info, though the ISBN listed at Amazon appears to incorporate the Signet Y6392 ID#)
The cover of this book is similar to the one shown in our http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/16... ...except that the book I'm holding was clearly not printed in Dec 1989 as the cover price is a mere $1.25 - I've tried determining when it was printed, but it doesn't seem to have date info other than original copyright dates (1942 and 1948), and I'm also sure it isn't that old because the cover price is $1.25 - If I had to take a wild guess at a year, I'd guess early 1970's
Sooooo.... is there some solution here so I can add this book in my hands to my bookshelves without adding yet another edition to the 19 already listed? Is one of those entries in error and just in need of being corrected/updated?
