Ari (acwulff) | 22 comments Every couple of days I check my wish list to see where I am in the queues for the books I want. Is it my imagination, or is it possible to drop further down the queue? (and if so, what would cause this to happen?)Do some users get preferential positions?

message 2: by Sherry (new)

Sherry (ninneschong) Nope. It's a common phenomenon that happens during the summer. When members do not have their wishlist on autorequest put their account on hold (vacation), it will move everyone behind them up. However, when they return from vacation they retain their original position.

message 3: by Mel (new)

Mel The only way I know of is if an order is placed and then the "seller" cancels which puts the person ordering back at the front of the line.

Sherry mentioned the holds. I hadn't thought of that, but that's another way you could move back a position.

Collette (vwbernie) | 24 comments I check it every workday. Yeah, I'm pathetic but that is a whole other subject. :p
I do think, for the most part, that is people going on vacation and putting their list on hold or being out of credits and doing the same thing.
I never put mine on hold when on vacation (not that it happens that often). I just make sure they are all on auto request and I have several credits. I know that doesn't work for everyone though.

Sherry (ninneschong) You're not the only person who checks theirs every day. Trust me, I'm obsessed! I keep track in a spreadsheet what position I am out of how many... it's a sickness, I'm telling you!

Holly P (hlp0221) I'm a daily checker too. Its so disappointing when this happens. I made it to #1 in line on two books in the Outlander series recently and then I guess someone took their account of vacation hold because I was bumped back to #2.

message 7: by Sherry (new)

Sherry (ninneschong) Holly, you're making me feel guilty... I have the last two Outlander books on my shelf. They're next on my "big read" list when I finish Harry Potter.

I have been thinking about this question more and there is/was a way that you could post a person's wishlisted book directly to that person and skip everyone else in line. I wonder if this still works?

message 8: by Holly P (new)

Holly P (hlp0221) You can post directly to someones WL. There should be an option to view someones WL when you look them up in the member directory. When you click on their WL you just find the book you want to post to them and click post this book. It will post directly to their shelf. I have such a humungous TBR pile right now I think I can wait through 1 more person to get the two Outlander books. I have to re-order Drums of Autumn though. Someone was offering a 2 for 1 deal on the book bazaar and had this one on their list so I ordered it from her and PMed her w/my freebie. Well 3 days later I notice its not showing on my books i requested tab or enroute to me tab. I PMed her and she said she didn't know what happened but now the book is showing as going to someone named Michaela even though i ordered it from her first. I KNOW I'm not crazy and that I did order it from her. I know I didn't click off her shelf and order it from FIFO because it hasn't shown its coming to me from anyone else either. I would have no reason to click on the book description anyway because I knew what both books were about. PBS wierdness.... Okay didn't mean this post to be so long :-)

Collette (vwbernie) | 24 comments LOL Holly. I have had that happen or something similar before. PBS doesn't always work the way it should.
I exchange books with my friends via their wish lists all the time. I wait in long lines for many of my books too so it's all fair IMHO.
The vacation thing drives me nuts! lol I put mine on auto request and make sure I have at least 10 credits or more before heading on vacation but I never put my wl on hold. I do my bookshelf though which is only fair.

message 10: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 39 comments I'm not as obsessive about my waitlist as some of you. I do check it occassionally, especially when I am low on credits, or out of credits, to see if I have something coming up.
