Bella Foxygobble (dcrain02) | 0 comments What is the deal with the extras? What makes them extras? Are they newer authors? I assume the quality of writing would be the same however... I know that they went from 6 a month to 4 a months w/ 4 extras... I don't get books in the mail so I'm limited to getting what is at Walmart (where I find them cheapest) and thrift stores. Just wondering why one is labeled extra... is it just that they don't get mailed with the club? Somewhere I read that it wasn't fair to the authors or readers to expect to be able to keep up with 6 a month... so how is that they can go from 6 to 10 a months? Or did they always have extras?

willaful | 344 comments I'm pretty sure at least some of them are reprints.

I have gotten some extras in the mail with my shipment every month, the past few months. I think some are reprints, and some are new under the various themes. I believe that some are previously published under the UK Mills and Boon Modern Romance line (which is incorporated into the HP line over here).

Ridley | 2 comments My understanding is that HP Extras are what's sold in the UK as M&B Modern Heat. So they have more evenly matched heroes and heroines, less exotic locales, heroines with actual careers, stuff like that. M&B is rebranding them as M&B Riva sometime soon, I believe.

Mira Lynn Kelly's Wild Fling or a Wedding Ring? is a recent example.

Bella Foxygobble (dcrain02) | 0 comments thanks for the info. I saw some yesterday when I was in Target and a couple were the boss/secretary type deal.

willaful | 344 comments It's not that clear cut, unfortunately. Some of the extras are reprints of older HPs. Some of the Modern Heats (and Medical Romances) are reprinted as regular HPs. I find it very annoying.

Bella Foxygobble (dcrain02) | 0 comments for those who have a subscription - do they come automatically to you or do you have to order them separately? I've been going back and forth on a subscription to the presents...

message 9: by Ridley (new)

Ridley | 2 comments A Modern Heat author commented on DA that the last two HP Extras listed each month are M&B Modern Heats.

It is annoying. I really like the Modern Heats, so I'd like to know what I'm buying.

Aruana | 248 comments This is in line with the Extra question .... whatever happened to the Uncuts? I really enjoyed them.

Two favourites by Sandra Marton:

Captive in His Bed

About the Knight brothers. They came out as Uncuts in South Africa.

Naked In His Arms

I've never been able to get the 3rd one here

The Desert Virgin

I believe the Uncut line was supposed to be racier and more raunchy. I believe they did away with that line.

Kate (kateperegrinate) This is what Romance Wiki (it's my go-to website for romance book info!) has to say about Uncut:

Uncut was as a miniseries of 8 books by Mills & Boon in its Modern Romance imprint from December 2005 to December 2006. The titles provided more passion and should let the reader escape into a world of intense passion and scorching romance in international settings with happy endings. A special logo on the front covers denoted them as part of the series.

The series was also adopted by the Harlequin Presents and Sexy lines, the later with slightly different titles.
