Shovelmonkey1 | 190 comments You could also try bookcrossing.com and go to the bookrings/bookray section of the forum. Many people list available 1001 books there and all you have to do to be able to read them is agree to be part of the bookring (book sent from one person to the other then ends up back with the originator of the ring) or bookray (book sent from one person to the other then the last person on the list gets to keep the book and do what they want with it). When you sign up you will be asked to state your postal preferences so that helps to keep the cost down. Generally people only offer up paperback books too so that makes it pretty cheap and convenient.

I have found this a great way to read books which I find it hard to get on the 1001 list. It's also a great way to dispose of my used books to people who really want to read them.

Alas, Laura, I can't read French. My high school course would never suffice for the challenge! Wish it could!

Judith (jloucks) | 1202 comments I have a good trade edition of "Captain Corelli's Mandolin" that I'll post on bookmooch. Let me know if anyone here wants me to reserve it for them.

I also have a rather beat up and yellowed copy of "Song of Solomon" posted there already. That one is mass market paperback size.

message 133: by Sissy (new)

Sissy will be listing i, robot, the hours, ragtime and ethan frome on bm either tonight or tomorrow afternoon (rosebrok).

message 134: by Elise (new)

Elise (elise327) I am thinking of adding the following books to my inventory on BookMooch, but they don't seem to be very popular, so unless someone here wants them (they are all on the list), I'll just get rid of them some other way.

Myra Breckinridge
The Mill on the Floss
The Scarlet Letter
Fathers and Sons
Fear of Flying
Kiss of the Spider Woman
A Boy's Own Story
The Last Temptation of Christ

I won't be adding the books right away, but when I do, I'll reserve them for you. My BookMooch ID is elise327.

(I also have a bunch of other list books, which I'll tell you about here before I post.)

I think I have three of the four of the Alexandria Quartet, of which Justine is one of them. It's somewhere in storage though, which means it'll take a while to find it.

The other method of attaining points (in addition to listing books) is to actually have a book mooched from you. That earns you one point. Also leaving feedback with your trader earns you .1 of a point, so the system is somewhat inflationary.

Hubert: I'd be interested in any of the books in the "Alexander Quartet" except "Justine" as I finally found a copy of that one. Let us know here when you post any of the others. please.

message 145: by Elise (new)

Elise (elise327) I just signed up for Paperback Swap as well, because out of the 600 books I have on my BookMooch wishlist, about 4 or 5 are available for mooching. So if you use PBS, friend me—my username is still elise327 (if I've already promised you a book through BM, I won't give it away to anyone else, don't worry).

I'm definitely interested, if you want. I have a bunch of the books and am happy to send them your way when done with them, or could lend before reading. Check my bookshelf, but I have more, so if there is something particular you want, just ask.

message 147: by Carrie (new)

Carrie Rodgers | 1 comments Hey, there. I'm new to this website, but I noticed that you're looking for "Oranges Are Not the Only Fruit" (which is a great read, by the way). I have a copy if you'd be interested in swapping. :)

message 148: by Kristel (new)

Kristel (kristelh) Elise, let me know if there is anything you're looking for. I sometimes have books I haven't put on the shelf yet. I might be looking to trade something for something.

message 149: by Kristel (new)

Kristel (kristelh) I have Cat's Eye by Margaret Atwood if anyone is interested in a swap. I can use PBS or Bookmooch.

message 150: by Judith (new)
