NAME THAT CHALLENGE!
My suggestions: The Quarterly Read-a-thon Group
Eclectic Readers Group
I'll read anything for a challenge
Elizabeth (Alaska) wrote: "OK, but I'm pretty sure only a moderator can set up a poll."It depends on how the group is set up.
There are websites online where you can create polls, or we could do it the hard way and each potential name can have its own thread, and if people like a name, they can post "This one!" or something to that effect in the proper thread. It might be too similar, but what about Reading Challenge Quarterly? Or the Bookapalooza Challenge? The Electronic Bookaloo! Okay, now I'm just being silly. But I can't wait to see what everyone else comes up with!

Actually, when we first started talking about how to deal with the Fall Group Reads, I went over to the "polls" page, and it seemed that it was going to let me set one up. I didn't go all the way with it, since I didn't actually have anything to "poll" about, but it looked as if it would work.
If it won't, I'll have to figure out something else for the Group Reads polls, too. But none of this is insurmountable.

Okay...I love playing with things like this so I will ponder the possibilities. Two early thoughts:
The Book Fling - "12 Weeks of Reading; A Multitude of Books"
Books in Season
Hmmmm.....when I tried this a few weeks ago, it let me click on "create poll" and I started messing around, entering things, etc. I just tried again, and this time as soon as I clicked "create poll" I got a big red message that I'm not authorized to create a poll in this group.
wonder what's going on?

I kinda like "The Book Fling."
Heeheehee...The tagline could be "50+ Books in 3 Months"

Yep, my husband already gave me a couple sites for online poll setting up, so that's probably the way to go. I'll need to do that for the Fall Group Reads choices as well.

Seasons of Book LoveReading Extravaganza
The Written Word Smorgasbord! (and each challenge could be named after a meal: Dec-Feb could be The Breakfast Challenge, then The Lunch Challenge, The Dinner Challenge, and The Dessert Challenge!)

Perfect solution! Thanks for dogging all of this!

LOL ... I'd be hungry all the time.
i like the idea of four, Ms Anderson!Other things that come in four; suits (hearts, diamonds, clubs and spades), elements (earth air fire water), directions (N S W E)
Directions may work nice if you were trying to move toward a more international selection
what we can do with these i dont know. i couldnt think of good names...
Seasoned ReadersExtreme Reading Challenge
I like the 4 ideas also. Maybe like a progressive dinner we could have a different theme every year. One year do theme for the year. Like Ms. Anderson's Smorgasboard one year. The next could be card suits. The next directions. Next the 4 food groups anything that comes in 4's. Then maybe all the 5 or 10 point tasks could revolve around the theme and the rest could be wide open in respect to theme. No restrictions on 25 point task makers as it is now.

If we go with the card suits, we could be "Reading with a Full Deck," and each season could be a suit.
Ms Anderson wrote: "If we go with the card suits, we could be "Reading with a Full Deck." Are you kidding? I think most people would think we're reading withOUT a full deck. ;-)

and call it: THE FOUR WAY CHALLENGE

How cool is that! And I think the idea of having a new theme each year with sets of 4 is a lot of fun.

Here are some other possibilities:Fantastic Four Challenge (FFC)
Tetrad Challenge (TC)
Quarterly Reading Challenge (QRC)
Quad Challenge (QC)
Perfectly Seasoned Book Challenge (PSBC)

and it makes it fundamentally different than The Seasonal Reading Challenge.
I think we're onto something here!

I agree!
If we go with the shifting ideas of four, though, would the tasks be required to follow that year's theme, or could we still have creative rein over the tasks? That's the only thing that would worry me. Otherwise, I wouldn't mind the different themes.

I don't see why it would, any more than every task now revolves around seasonal things. Some do, but more don't.

If you have an idea for a new name, please post it here. I know some folks have already posted suggestions in other threads, but it will be too easy to miss some if I'm trying to sort through other places.
I'm going to have a very short time frame on this - please post your suggestions by Sunday night. I'll set up a poll and everyone can vote on the name - again, the time frame for voting will be short so we can get this in the works.
So, put on your creative hats and let's have some fun!
