Desperado (lethallovely) I was glancing through a novel I'm reading recently & I noticed the page numbers didn't match the edition I'd added to GR. So I went to the website & created a new one with the page numbers for my edition. I didn't know until I tried to combine my edition with others that only Goodreads Librarians could do that. I didn't even know about GR Librarians! So I was wondering if someone here would be able to combine my newly created edition with the others so it'd show the ratings/reviews et cetera. The link is Once Bitten, Twice Shy

Done. For future reference, please don't create a new edition just to fix page numbering. Ask here for someone to fix that on the existing edition instead.

Desperado (lethallovely) Thank you very much for fixing it & I will definitely come here first if I run into that problem again. As I previously stated, I didn't even know there was a group called GR Librarians until I after I'd created a new edition.

Chuck (ccaldwel) | 19 comments OK - Adding my books is becoming a real chore. It's just a few hundred hardcovers. I'm not even sure I'll ever do the paperbacks.

But it's not the volume getting to me - it's the precision. I feel compelled to ensure I have the proper edition listed and if it's not available, I'll create a new one. All my early Piers Anthony book club editions fell into that category and I became a Librarian basically to "fix" those.

But since I'm going alphabetically (a few books a day , if that), I'm still on Asimov.

Then there's the series. I am afraid I am a perfectionist here as well. But I am constantly wondering if I should really edit things because it's my way of thinking. For example, some people seem to get fast and loose about the tiles of books and even series. As a result, there seems to be too much duplication and I'm out to "fix" that as well.

And there's the 2-in-1's, 3-in-1's, etc. And adding covers.

Finding way too many of my books contain no ISBN in the book or on the cover (yes, I have (most of) those as well). In short, I am poking around - making "hard" decisions - with many of my books, so it's a really slow process.

I am also learning from my mistakes - like creating a new edition when one already exists and then going back and merging the two.

Well, need to get back to it, I suppose. Hopefully, I'll either ease up and let some "discrepancies" go - or at least, learn to do it all faster. Meanwhile,

Beware the Mad Librarian,
the edits that cut, the merges that catch,
Beware the Add Series, and shun
the frumious Blogosnatch!

Scott | 9166 comments Hi Chuck,

I just fixed some of the covers on the SFBC omnibuses you have. Bugs me when people just take a picture of the book and don't bother to even crop it. I guess I am kind of a perfectionist in that respect; I love looking at my and others' libraries in cover view and those types of pictures drive me nuts!

Yeah, I remember when book club editions didn't have ISBNs.

No problem, I may have finally gotten around to it but as you can see, I have been busy with a bunch of other "issues". I DO understand perfectionism...
