Lisarenee | 7659 comments Sometimes getting a newly released book reminds me of Christmas time and Santa. Remember writing letters to Santa? Have you ever wished you could write a letter to one your favorite author? Well here’s your chance. In an effort to convince authors to chat with us and participate in a Q&A session, thereby "gifting" us with their presence, we ask you to help us convince them by writing a letter to them. So write a thank you, tell them how their book changed your life, or whatever else is on your mind. While we can’t guarantee they’ll see it, we sure hope they do! Also, no confessions of undying love or the like. While we all love our authors we don't want to scare them off. We also don't want to send them any letter of hate or criticism. The general rule of thumb here is if you can't say something nice then, please, say nothing at all.

Please do not create an author topic yourself. Leave that to us, your moderators.

Lauren | 931 comments Wow Lisarenee, great idea. I got hold of a computer and am going to try and get some stuff done now :) I really like this topic... can I start a catergory for letters to Lisa See? I love her!

Sashana I would love to write to my favorite author. It's gonna be hard not to confess my undying love though :D

Lauren | 931 comments Let's try not to scare them :)

- Keep it appreciative, but not obsessive of love-dovey. This message is for everyone who would like to write a letter.

Geraldine Wierzbicki-roach | 10 comments Dear friends,

I think I understand the idea of this group pretty well but I haven't seen an obvious question. What about all of us who have written books? Are we allowed to promote them, talk about them, hope members might read them? Can't help it. I was born an avid reader but if there's anything that competes with reading (no, that's not true because reading is relaxing and fun, while writing can be stressful),it has to be my love ofwriting. Do I have a conflict of interests here? Geraldine Thus Bound: the story of Tadziu and Marysza

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Geraldine, We are still a fairly new group and are still making things up as we go. We recently have been throwing out ideas of how everything should be run for Q&A and are perhaps still a little behind with that aspect. We have 3 authors we've heard from that we either talked to or have been in contact with us that we will be having Q&A sessions with next month. Give us through the weekend (perhaps it'll be sooner) and we'll have an answer for you. We may just end up with an author self promotion section where authors can tell us about their books. Let me check with Lauren and Sashana before I make any definite declarations. Thanks for the question. :)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Geraldine, We are in the final stages of coming up with an author promotion section. Hopefully, in the next day or two we'll have it posted. Just waiting on one more thumbs up and it'll be posted.
