Discuss this month's BCR here. You can post as you read or when you have finished. Spoilers are likely.

Unapologetic_Bookaholic I read this and every 1/4 of the way through my opinion changed. At first I waited. I couldn't say if I liked Spade and Denise because I was getting used to the story as a whole. 1/2 through I was getting a bit annoyed. 3/4 I kept checking the page count...lol. It wasn't the characters fault but they just didn't stack up to Cat and Bones and I hated comparing them. But it IS the Night Huntress world for crying out loud. I couldn't help but feel the had to be in the same league. Perhaps NHW Book 2 will be redeeming.

See that is why I didn't jump to read it when i got thiis book in the mail. I love Cat and Bones and I even liked Spade but I didn't feel I liked him enough to read an entire book about him. I will see how it goes.

ok, for some reason i thought touch the dark was this months read so I don't have this book. I'll try to get it and read it before the end of the month

Unapologetic_Bookaholic @jael you may love it...I just didn't go nuts over the characters as I did with Cat and Bones. Its a high standard. I tried not to compare, but it was hard not too =D

Carolyn F. Me too Jael, I've let it sit forever. This will force me to read it this month.

@Michelle yeah sorry about that there was a small confusion. I forgot to notify the person that their pick was up for this Month.

Susan (Suz) (sharney) I was a little leary about this book going into it, just wasnt' sure what to expect and I was never a HUGE Spade fan, so I went in with low expectations and definitely kept an open mind and ended up really loving it and I now LOVE spade!:) Now I'm feeling the same about Eternal Kiss of Darkness, never really loved mencheres, but maybe that's cuz we have never really known THAT much about him... good luck ladies!:)

message 9: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. The same thing is happening to me Susan. People have been saying how much they were disappointed in this book so I too came into with very low expectations and I really like it. They were saying how Denise was always complaining, but I thought she was doing a pretty good job of trying to just take things as they come especially after what happened with her husband and the baby. She also didn't wanted to assume anything with Spade. I'm almost done with the book and I have to say I'm really liking it.

Susan (Suz) (sharney) That's great Carolyn! I definitely like to hear/see reviews but for the most part I try not to take them to heart when I go into a book! Same thing happened to me with Lover Mine and Dead in the Family!:) I just go into them for the entertainment value and in most cases end up really liking them!:)

message 11: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. Sometimes the higher the expectation, the worse I like the book. The lower the expectations, the more I do. I should come to every book believing I'm going to hate it :)

message 12: by Carolyn F. (new)

Carolyn F. Well overall I really enjoyed the book. I ended up liking Denise and Spade together. I'm wondering about the baby issue though. Is there any way she could get pregnant from Spade since it does seem a possibility that she could have children. Maybe demon children but children nonetheless. And she did lose her baby before. Just wondering.

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) Yay--finally got my Nook back from my daughter. I can now read the second of the "Nighthuntress World" books, since I bought it as an ebook.

Ok so I am about halfway through this book and I like it. I always liked Spade but I didn't think I would like Denise. Now I am adding next book in this series to my list. I wonder if she'll do a book for Ian?

Finished this two days ago and I really did enjoy it, but I want an Ian book so bad! Oh he was too funny in this book.

message 16: by Ann aka Iftcan (new)

Ann aka Iftcan (iftcan) Hey--I'm not sure that any woman is good enough for our Ian. Or at least, would put up with him for very long. lol, I too love him.

lol I may have to agree with you Ann. I'd love any woman that brings that one to his knees.

I'm going to have to skip this one :( I haven't finished reading the Cat and Bones series yet and as this one ties with that series I would feel like I would have no idea what's going on with these characters. I'm hoping to get all of JF's books read in the next little while :)
