Sashana Hey, Saninbham, what a name! Welcome to the group, I agree with you 100% about #5; GPS is the best thing ever. I have to agree with #3 too, some people are so outraged if they find out that you're reading *gasp!* romance.

Thanks Sashana. Saninbham is not really all that creative. My name is San, I live in Birmingham, AL (abbreviated Bham). So it's saninbham. I am somewhat a nerdy overachiever so when people find out I read *gasp* romance, they get all funny acting like it's beneath me. I just laugh at them and show them my fake book and then everything is right in their world LOL.

Oh and fact #6 that people freak about-I have a tatoo on the inside of my wrist. They are more accepting when they find out it's a Wm. Shakespeare quote but still gasp!!!

message 153: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Really?! You must live in a conservative town then. Where I live, 50% of people over the age of 14 have a tatoo-and trust me, it's no Shakespeare!

message 154: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Hey Saninbham and welcome! I need my directions written down as I just can't understand when given verbal.

There are so many that love romance books and I have met most of them on this site! I always tell people when they make faces at what I read that at least I read..

And as Sashana says, lots of people have tattoos. I doubt it will ever be completely acceptable. When people get upset at mine, I just tell them that they are in good company as my Mom hates all of mine!

message 155: by Jessica B (new)

Jessica B | 14 comments 1. I'm the crazy cat lady... I have four cats and don't really own anything nice because I'd rather have my cats then fancy furnishings.
2. My Kindle is my pride and joy and I've caught my family rolling their eyes at me behind my back when I get going about it.
3. I have a tattoo down the side of my left leg - all symbols related to my favourite books.
4. My favourite author of all time is Richelle Mead.
5. Fast food is my weakness!

Elise-Pinterest+Goodreads=The Perfect Book Boyfriend (eliselovesshinyandnew) | 7 comments @Jessica about #2-My family and friends call me a "Kindle Snob". Just to annoy them, sometimes when a book that I want is not in ebook format and someone says "just buy the darn book", I get my best whiny spoiled voice and say "but then I'll have to turn pages and what if I get a paper cut. Will you turn the pages for me?". It cracks me up but they don't see the humor in it. I'm just kidding-my goodness!!

message 157: by Storm (last edited Oct 15, 2010 12:53AM) (new)

Storm (stormgerlock) Hi, my name is Rose and I recently joined this group.

1. I'm in college and I'm planning to major in Communications but wish I could major in English.

2. I've been reading since I was 4 and I've always treated it as a great escape from the troubles of life.

3. I also have a crazy passion for music and I dream of being a music producer and working on soundtracks for tv shows and movies.

4. I love animals and back home I have three cats and two dogs. I also work with horses in my spare time and hope to own them when I'm older.

5. I get crazy addicted to doing reading challenges but I have to do them one at a time during the school year or else my grades will suffer.

message 158: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Rose, We have many reading challenges, so hopefully you can find one that is just right.

message 159: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Jessica B said, "I have a tattoo down the side of my left leg - all symbols related to my favourite books."

I think that definitely tells us how much you like books. :)

message 160: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Welcome Rose, Jessica B to our crazy world!

Jessica B, what kind of symbols the tats?

message 161: by Jessica B (new)

Jessica B | 14 comments I have the ribbon from Eclipse, the dagger from Black Dagger Brotherhood, I have the mockinjay from the Hunger Games, I have black feathers for fallen angels, I have the bow and arrow from the cover of fire and a moon from the night huntress series. It is a collage of symbols around a book with a nice pink cloud in the back to tie them all together.

After I got it so many people were blown away. They couldn't beleive I would go and get a tattoo but I figured what better way to pay tribute to some of my favourites then going through many hours of pain!

message 162: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments I completely agree with you! Sounds like a wicked tat and a very creative one to boot!

message 163: by Jessica B (new)

Jessica B | 14 comments I actually had a little buyers remorse right after it was finished what with all the itching and swelling but after it healed up nice I couldn't be happier and no one can ever accuse me of getting a tattoo that doesn't mean something!

message 164: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments LOL, my friends tease me when I complain after getting one. The comment they say the most is that I paid for it..

My all time favorite author is Richelle Mead too!

message 166: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments Five things...oh my. Well lets see...

1. I am also quite inactive and I hated P.E. Somehow I always passed though without doing much! I just do not have the lung capacity to run or jog, not even when I was in elementary.

2. I read all the time and my boyfriend and friends never pick up a book, so I have turned to various internet book clubs and web friends to fill that void.

3. I am very shy around new people in the workplace, at school, etc. However, I am not shy in the general public. Not sure why, but that is the way I am.

4.I am going to college to become an English teacher, preferably middle school to high school. I graduate in the spring!

5. I love life, people watching, and travelling. I can never get enough of these three things. Well, and of course, I can never get enough of books!

message 167: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments I love people watching too! It's nice to have you Rachel.

message 168: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Rachel, it's freaky but these are all things that I would write about myself! Welcome to the group :)

message 169: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments Thanks girls. @Lauren- Your profile picture...that does not happen to be in Austin, TX does it? I have a picture almost identical to that one. We took it in the botanical gardens. @Sashana- Glad to know some one out there is like me! :)

message 170: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments Rachel, it's actually a trail near our house (in Pennsylvania.) We have a lot of pretty scenic trail for biking/hiking near here and it has gotten me in love with nature. My dad owns 25 acres, and it's covered with a cute little river and forest. Very fun for hiking! :)

Oh that's cool. I bet that would be awesome to live by/on! I love nature too, not so much hiking though...

message 172: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments Yes, hiking can be a lot of work. It's tricky too! Once you get the hang of it it's pretty fun :)

message 173: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Welcome Rachel! You'll never be shy here!!

message 176: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Welcome Vicki! I just started baking cupcakes and they come out pretty damn good.

Loved the movie versions of P&P and at some point I will read the book..

message 177: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Welcome Vicki. I love your favorite books. I read Pride & Prejudice for the first time last year and was surprised at how much I liked it. I think The Book Thief will become a classic one day. I really liked The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society too. All are great books.

message 178: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments Vicki, I am a education major 4-8 and going through my year of student teaching right now. Did/do you enjoy teaching?

message 179: by Vicki (new)

Vicki Fisher I did enjoy teaching--I taught for 1st grade for 2 years then took off time to raise my family--now I substitute Kinder-8th grade--I like the flexibility and the opportunity of being in so many classrooms.

Lauren | 931 comments It's nice to have you Vicki! :)

message 181: by Rachel (new)

Rachel (treychel) | 1484 comments I am thinking about subbing first before having my own class. I jsut want to get the feel for all of the different schools and districts in my area before I decide where I should focus my attention. I have been to two elementary in the area and the kids are SOOO different by jsut driving 15 minutes down the street! I am in West Texas now and will be moving back to DFW after graduation so I think subbing in DFW would be better at first!

I like #5... Standing up for what you believe in is a really great quality to have.

I don't really like to get scared... We have an amusement park by our house and everyone goes to THE HAUNT. LOL. They have all these "haunted attractions," and people chase you around the park with chainsaws and everything. It's a pretty big deal. People come from states all around us for it. You'd like it :)

It's nice to have you in our group! :)

Haha, i like to reply to these(:
Haha, I am pretty stubborn.

Lauren- That sounds awesome!
My mom doesnt like me going to those things though
I went to sea world two weeks ago and went through two haunted houses, thats where the fear of psychos with chainsaws comes from, they surrounded me and scared the living daylights out of me. Lol

message 186: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Yeah, Ashlea, you haven't met me..

I went to Universal Studios in FL for Fright Night and had the everlasting s*** scared out of me. It was so much fun!

Sashana Rachel wrote: "I am thinking about subbing first before having my own class. I jsut want to get the feel for all of the different schools and districts in my area before I decide where I should focus my attention..."

Rachel, when we have subs it's a free for all. Nobody listens to them! But then again it's a bunch of high school students so what else would you expect?

message 188: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments My schools the same way... I always feel bad for the substitutes though.

message 189: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Me too, poor subs; giving kids a substitute teacher is like giving a two year old a bucket of sugar and saying, “Here go crazy.” We do have those really strict subs but they’re very rare.

message 190: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments Hmm... Ours are usually pretty cool. We had a sub who played college football for Clemson. He was just awesome

message 191: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I have a sub that will write you up if you talk or laugh *-*

message 192: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments Oh that's horrible :(

message 193: by A Voracious Reader (a.k.a. Carol) (last edited Nov 11, 2010 01:20PM) (new)

A Voracious Reader (a.k.a. Carol) (avidreader68) 1. I love to read. On this site, that's pretty much a given.

2. I don't think I'm old enough to have a 25-yr-old son because how can a 21-yr-old have a 25-yr-old son? I don't care if my birth certificate says I was born in 1968. Lies! Government conspiracy! Huge rip in the space-time continuum!

3. My favorite group is Aerosmith.

4. I hate movie adaptations of books. Only exception for me: Lord of the Rings.

5. I don't listen to movie critics and I hate chick flicks. Give me explosions, cheesy humor, tons of special effects. Entertain me!

message 194: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Hey Carol! I loved listening to Aerosmith's Pump when it first came out. I was hanging out with an ex and well, never mind but I won't ever forget the music..

For me, it all depends on who is in the chic flick..

A Voracious Reader (a.k.a. Carol) (avidreader68) @Heather - Ah...musical association. I have plenty of those! ;)

message 196: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Heh-heh, if walls could talk eh? I think we could give Steve Tyler a run for his money, or just run away from him.

message 197: by Lisa S (last edited Nov 12, 2010 02:59PM) (new)

Lisa S (kasey_k_fan) Carol, I hear ya on Aerosmith. I used to love them. I have everyone of their albums.

message 198: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments Guns & Roses all the way :)

message 199: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments LOL, yeah, but what is up with Axel's package? Always looks strange in his videos..

A Voracious Reader (a.k.a. Carol) (avidreader68) I saw GNR open for Aerosmith. And I saw Bad Company open for Deep Purple. Way back when. Ah, let me think...1987? Somewhere around then. lol Plus, I've seen Alice Cooper 3x. I'd love to take my kids to see him!
