#3 used to apply to me. I even had a specific album that I had to listen to while falling asleep. I've since moved on to a sound machine, but I still have to have some sort of noise in the background.

#5 - I agree! I wear what my friends would probably call "mom jeans," because they aren't skinny jeans or uber-tight or ridiculously low. I'm okay with that.

message 512: by Laura (new)

Laura (lglovett) | 1444 comments So many neat things, I don't know what to comment on!

The pub crawl sounds fun! I also hate jeans, and I would love to be any type of librarian, but a rare book librarian sounds like fun.

message 513: by Valerie (new)

Valerie #1 - My current passion (besides reading) is teaching adults how to play the piano for fun.
#2 - I have seasonal depression, and moved to south Texas to escape the Midwest winters.
#3 - After having been a cat owner my whole life, I recently got my first dog. This led me to the realization that all this time I was actually a dog person and didn't know it. Now I have two dogs, and call them my fur-babies. (still like cats, but dogs are amazing!)
#4 - I'm addicted to Pinterest.
#5 - I'm terrified of grasshoppers.

message 514: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Valerie,
I was addicted to Pinterest for a few months. It's a great website, but SO time consuming.

message 515: by Laura (new)

Laura (lglovett) | 1444 comments Valerie-

#2- I was born and raised in Texas. I love it and would never move away.
#4- I am also addicted to Pinterest.

Laura - God willing, I don't plan on ever leaving Texas now that I'm here!

I have a book-themed Pinterest board: http://pinterest.com/pianomom33/me-th...

message 517: by Alice (new)

Alice Fackler (alicexpalace) | 1 comments Hey... I'm new so... Yeahhhh...
1) I have discovered my new fondness in reading recently and am always on a quest to find another good book.
2) I am a music freak of nature and I play various instruments (viola, piano, guitar, etc....) and I sing. I plan on being a music major and work as a street musician over the summer.
3) I have an "itch under my foot" per se and I want to see the world! I live in California, but I have the desire to live in Virginia and actually see seasons happen, not just have perpetual summer with a few months of winter on the side. That's another thing.... I love seasons. I love seeing them. The colors are so beautiful and how in a strange way, they all fit together... And they all seem to work to create a piece of art before my eyes, except its tangible and it smells, and it is beautiful...
4) I love white chocolate. Don't ask me why. It's a long story. I also love making stupid puns....
5) I have a strange life of nerdiness for which I take no shame for and I also have many unusual pets (chickens, turkeys, koi fish, tortoises, and many other animals, including the occasional visit for Perv the bear. Again, don't ask how that name came to be. Long story)
Well, that's me.... For the most part

Laura (lglovett) | 1444 comments @ Alice

#1- Welcome to the book club!
#2-Its neat that you play so many instruments
#3-I hate winter. That's why I live in Texas, we don't have much of one down here near Houston, but at least someone enjoys the winter weather.

message 520: by ✿Claire✿ (new)

✿Claire✿ (clairelm) | 1222 comments Hi,
1. I'm doing a PhD in medical sciences but I think I'll retrain as a paramedic when I finish
2. I love reading and I would read all day for weeks if I could!
3. I play piano and clarinet (and sort of the sax) but I don't get much chance to play them at the moment
4. I love going to new places and doing new things but the best part for me is returning home to my family at the end of it (same goes for uni really, I don't mind being so far away as long as I get to go home regularly :) )
5. I successfully managed to surprise my Mum by going home a day earlier than she expected for Christmas. Still not sure how I didn't let my plans slip but it worked!

message 521: by Laura (new)

Laura (lglovett) | 1444 comments What a neat surprise for your mom, Claire. Welcome to NBRC! I enjoyed your list.

message 522: by Mary (new)

Mary (merinwe) | 1043 comments Seems I haven't been getting notifications for this thread. There are new people!

@ Valerie
3 - I've always considered myself a cat person, having grown up with cats and loved them, but my boyfriend's incredibly allergic. I'm trying to become a dog person now.

message 523: by Mary (last edited Jan 17, 2013 03:26PM) (new)

Mary (merinwe) | 1043 comments @ Alice
I think you and I are close to the same person... Except for the pets part. :)
2- I sing and play the piano (although I play it by ear, so probably not as well as you) and used to write music before health issues got in the way.
3- My lifelong dream is to travel the world. My boyfriend asked me where I would want to go on our honeymoon and I said EVERYWHERE. He said, okay, great, but where? I basically told him anywhere I haven't been before. In Alabama we have autumn for about two weeks. The trees are beautiful until a big storm comes through and blows all the leaves off of them. And then it's winter, where it can go from 70 degrees to 20 degrees back to 70 degrees in one week, because it's Alabama.
4- I am also in love with white chocolate. Have you had those Lindor white chocolate truffle balls? Heaven in a bite.

message 524: by Mary (new)

Mary (merinwe) | 1043 comments @ Claire
3 - Ooh, clarinet! I play piano, and I played flute in high school. When I was little, I wanted to play clarinet. It looked so easy to play, so fun, and my mom had played it growing up. I had one lesson and switched to flute.
5 - That's so sweet of you! Bet she loved that.

message 525: by Valerie (new)

Valerie @Mary, @Claire, @Alice

Cool that there are so many piano players! As a piano teacher, I'm blessed to get paid to do something I love! Now, if only I could get paid to read...

I wish I had more chance to play but at the moment I don't have room or time to - hopefully that will change soon :)

message 532: by Sophia (new)

Sophia | 31 comments 1. I live in Sydney, Australia, but I was born and raised in Ontario, Canada.
2. Despite that, I have seen more of the United States than I have of either Canada or Australia.
3. I'm currently studying Social Work (to get a job) and Linguistics (because I love it!) even though I only speak 2 languages (English and French).
4. Up until November, I only read 3 novels in 2012. I've read four times that in the weeks since. So I'm not really a new reader, (I did read a lot when I was a kid) but I've only recently fallen in love with turning off the phone, computer and tablet and curling up with a good book.
5. I'm a proud brony/pegasister.

message 533: by Laura (new)

Laura (lglovett) | 1444 comments I have always wanted to visit Australia. I enjoyed reading your list, welcome to the group!

Heres a question that may seem silly: ”is there any special knowledge or classes that are meedes to work at a library?” When my youngest goes to kindergarten(in a fews years) I will go back to work, it would be a dream to work at our lical library.

3: I'm not a morning person, I'm definately a night owl.

4: The only cars I've driven are Corsas.

5: There's a lot of sides to me, and I don't think anyone knows all my sides...
