The little girl here is just about 7 and half months old.
And she has an uncanny knack for going for the one thing you don't want her to have. And she's starting to stand up....
She's trouble.

oh I feel your pain. The day after he learned to crawl he started pulling up. He is into anything and everything, and he goes after everything you tell him no about. Even baby gates haven't deterred him much

This will be a slow one, methinks."
It starts a bit slow but it starts to pick up. The first 80 pages or so is just laying out who the characters are

I'm just saying I don't think I'll be done with it this week."
I'm hoping I will finish by this week, I got and started the book last week, yet in only on page 325, for some reason I'm just not reading this book very fast. It usually doesn't take me 2 weeks to read a book

It doesn't even start out slow it just builds up slowly its more of a brisk walk than a sprint to get to the heart of the story

That doesn't sound very promising. o.O I have reached chapter two and am hoping something interesting will happen soon.

But there seem to be some wicked fast readers in this club. <_<"
I hope I don't make you feel bad! Take your time you got a month. Plus I'm on vacation so I think it doesn't count. Enjoy reading it.

But I'm glad I didn't write off Patrick Rothfuss because of it. I'm on page 66 of Name of the Wind now and I'm enjoying it quite well.
And really, I don't know what I was so scared of. Clearly Terry Brooks tends to like good fiction and fantasy. He blantantly copies good stories all the time. (And does a poor job of it.)

One of the things I liked is that while it has a nice, and rich, feel to the world, it is easily accessible. Quickly, things make sense, and it is easy to understand what is going on.
Unlike Gardens of the Moon, which I really like, but is so dense with the world, it is hard to understand at first.

For me the book isn't so much slow but almost misleading in a sense. The back blurb and first few chapters give you a glimpse of all the legends that surround kvouthe yet the further you get into it I got impatient to see any of it. I think my problem was the story within the story aspect you know where his character ends up and I was anxious to see how he ended up there, yet it wasn't till you got 300 pages in before he even got to the school. I guess I'm just an impatient reader, if it wasn't for the story with in the story I don't think I'd have ad big of an issue with it.
The story within a story thing is one of my favorite things about it. :D Mostly because it really does build up anticipation. There aren't many books that keep me thinking about it after I'm finished, but with this one... I don't know, I keep just thinking about the story and characters. It's great.
I enjoy it but it was like I keep anticipating something huge coming around the corner, kept waiting for some huge revelations or action that helped me understand the direction of the character and the book. I wanted to know quickly how the character became who he was and how he got to the inn. It just took me awhile to realize that this story isn't like that, it builds slowly which isn't bad just different from what I expect from the way the beginning started off. Once I got past that I was able to settle in and enjoy the story. But it wasn't till the scene where he is getting ready to perform for the first time at the club that I got emotionally invested in the character
Some did start a few days before August though, so they've gotten a head start.
