Rachel Peculiar Treasures (Katie Weldon, #1) by Robin Jones Gunn 9-27-13
Katie Weldon-athletic,competitive,spunky redhead-is also good friends with Christy Miller and Sierra Jensen, both of whom are title characters in two other series although many of the stories involve all three friends. Because this series begins when Katie is a senior at college and deals with more complex issues, I think it's better suited to high school seniors and older. At any rate, I really liked the novel and how Katie discovers that she is harboring unforgiveness and pain in her heart; her spiritual growth in the novel is intense, and I felt empathy for her as a character. This is a well-written and fun novel.

Coming Attractions (Katie Weldon, #3) by Robin Jones Gunn 9-28-13

The Way of Grace (Miller's Creek #3) by Cathy Bryant 9-29-13
This was my first Kindle read with our new "used" (and free) Kindle, and even though it took me while to get used to the buttons and everything, it wasn't too bad. It didn't bother my eyes as I'd feared it might, and it's not heavy, which is nice.
Anyhow, this book started out a bit slowly, and I wasn't sure how I would take to the characters who seemed flat at first; however, the small (but blaring) grammatical and spelling errors aside, I ended up enjoying this book. Most of the characters did develop more complexity and had growth and change before the end. I also enjoyed the suspense of the story. The ending completely threw me, which was rather fun--surprises can be quite refreshing. Also, I had no idea it was the third in a series until the end, so it works well as a stand-alone novel.

Child of the Mist (These Highland Hills, #1) by Kathleen Morgan 9-30-13
This was a well-written and emotionally-tugging suspenseful novel. I enjoyed the characters, especially the protagonist, Anne, who remained spiritually strong and loyal to her betrothed despite a lot of difficult circumstances.

Paradise Valley (Daughters of Caleb Bender, #1) by Dale Cramer 10-1-13
This was a decent historical Amish novel. It was interesting, but I'm not sure how well I care for Cramer's writing style. I did enjoy the plot and characters, however.

June (Brides of the West, #2) by Lori Copeland 10-2-13
This was a fun, well-written novel with great characters. I really enjoyed June's story, and I found some of her predicaments to be highly entertaining.

Hope (Brides of the West, #3) by Lori Copeland 10-3-13
This was a fun, well-written novel with great characters. I really enjoyed June's story, and I found some of her predicaments to be highly entertaining.

Brides of the West Glory, Ruth and Patience (Brides of the West #4-6) by Lori Copeland 10-7-13
I really enjoyed these last three books of Lori Copeland's Brides of the West series. The plots were fun and amusing at times while providing action and clean romance. I did feel, however, that these main characters weren't developed as well as her previous three Kallahan sisters: Faith, June, and Hope. Even so, they are good reads, and I plan to look for her spin-off series called Men of the Saddle sometime.

I didn't have internet at home for about 2 weeks. I pretty much did my housework, took care of my son, and read all day every day. :)

Rachel Once Upon a Prince by Rachel Hauck 10/8/13
This was a well-written, sweet novel. I loved the characters, and the story was a fun modern-style fairy tale.

Annette I have just finished Katie's Forever Promise - Jerry S Eicher. Book 3 in the Emma Raber's Daughter series.

I couldn't put it down and I am afraid that I cheated and went to the last page to see what happened at the end. I don't normally do this but it made reading the book more enjoyable

Sara | 8 comments Rachel, the only thing I don't like about my kindle is that I don't know how to peek at the end & get back to where I was. With a paper copy I almost always have to check the end at some point to see who ends up with who, who lives and dies etc.

Jeanine (bluestocking86) | 60 comments I am reading "The Witching Hour" by Anne Rice. I think when I started this book I should have started a character list to remind me who was who. I am only on page 70 but I feel like there have been a lot of people introduced into the story and I am feeling confused.

Rachel The Orchid House by Lucinda Riley 10/12/13
I really loved this novel. It was well-written, the various plot lines were tied together so well, and the characters came alive and were brilliant. The differing points-of-view explaining the family history and its secrets were seamlessly woven into the main narrative. The plot had so many twists and turns, I was almost constantly surprised. It is definitely a new favorite novel and a new author that I plan to read more from.

April Moreland | 13 comments though mountains fall. By Dale Cramer (book #3 of the series: the daughters of caleb bender). loving this series but please. start the series from book #1. the lower ratings I have seen are all from those who tried to pick up in the middle. the first was the most captivating of the books and are what got me hooked to the entire series) lets just say.. I started book 3 today and I am already on chapter 11. I just cant stop readingThough Mountains Fall

Rachel Blue Moon by Luanne Rice 10/14/13
This was an interesting novel once the story truly got started, and the characters were well developed, but there were some raunchy scenes in the novel that didn't even add anything to the plot--they were just random and unnecessary. So, I liked the novel, but it wasn't great.

Rachel Secrets Over Sweet Tea by Denise Hildreth Jones 10/16/13
So, I picked up this one assuming it was going to be a light-hearted Christian chick flick as are most of the Christian books set in the south with colorful southern characters, but it turned out to deal very well with some serious and difficult topics while still having some of those flamboyant southern characters that make such books so much fun. It was well written, the characters were awesome, and several difficult issues were dealt with in a Christian manner. I really loved it.

Rachel The Icecutter's Daughter (Land of Shining Water, #1) by Tracie Peterson 10/18/13

Rachel All the Tea in China by Jane Orcutt 10/21/13
I really enjoyed this novel, and I found the characters sweet even though they are highly flawed. It's written fairly well although I would say that there were some loose ends left hanging after the end of the novel. And I definitely found it amusing that she was so convinced that she was to be a missionary in China based on such superficial things, and I really liked how God made her know that she was sent after Phinneas for love and not for the sake of the Gospel. I liked it a lot.
