Introductions - Please introduce yourself

Hi Lindsay,
Have you read the Alienist by Caleb Carr?
The Alienist
It is an older book written in the 90's. Set in New york City, during 1896 so you get both history and crime thriller together. The Alienist is about an investigation of a murder using what would become psychological profiling. Excellent book.

I loved the Distant Hours! My favorite by Kate Morton is The Forgotten Garden.

Have you read that one Jackleen?"
No I have not, which is odd because I am usually on the lookout for sequels of books I love. Thank you for the tip, I will see if I can find it at the library.
It's been a while since I've read it. I lent it to a friend who never returned it... roughly a decade ago. I'd love to read it again though, so I may pick up another copy. A must-read for Caleb Carr fans!!

My name is Andrea and I love to read all kinds of books! I am looking forward to finding even more books to add to my reading lists. I too am a bookaholic. I listen to radio programs about books, I read magazines about books, and I enjoy writing as well. My favourite authors include Tracy Chevalier, Jaqueline Winspear, and Laura Anne Gilman to name just a few.

:)

My name is Sue and I've been meaning to introduce myself for awhile, but the frantic pace at work and getting ready for holidays has put a toll on my computer antics. That, and my modem died! *shudder*. But it's up and running...just in time for me to leave for a couple of weeks!
I love reading - all books, all types ....well, maybe not textbooks ... but I'll even do those if they're well written! There's nothing that beats a well written book. Okay - maybe chocolate. But combined, that's damn near heaven!! I still favor science fiction, fantasy as my go to books when I'm in need of a 'fix', but who-dunnits are a close second. And give me an author with a sense of humor! And one with a vocabulary is sublime!
Looking forward to checking out the discussions!
Cheers!
Sue

Thanks for the invite! This looks like a fun group and I’m happy to be here.
I’m a book addict and a writer of YA fantasy romance. Right now I’m reading The Grayfriar by Clay and Susan Griffith, it’s fantasy steampunk. AND A Time for Love by Lynn Kurland, it’s fantasy romance.
I love paranormal or fantasy romance, but I also really enjoy western, historical, and mystery. Basically, I love just about anything with a heavy dose of romance. Give me lots of smooching and I’m happy. ;) The only things I don’t like are lots of horror and gore.

You'll love her books and won't be able to put them down! I read Fateful in 2 days! I'm still reading Fractured but that's only because I have a few books I'm reading at once. LOL

I'm attempting to be a writer, but have a hard time getting past first draft phase. I have two young children at home which tends to limit my writing time. I've written everything from picture books, to a dystopian short story, and I'm currently writing a middle grade fantasy novel, 500 words at a time. Wish me luck!

hahahahaha. I try to read everyday for at least 2hrs. When people give me crap..i politely remind them of the two hours plus they spend..watching TV, playing with their apps, surfing the net, shopping (which i detest) etc.
Glad to have you here, Kimberly! I couldn't agree with you more. I read in place of watching tv, too, and my family doesn't understand, but at least they tolerate.

My name is Amber and I am excited to have found this group, it's one of the few that displays a bookshelf with books I'm interested in. Nice variety as well.
I am a little book snobbish. I admit I'll try almost anything, but if I don't like it I'll stop reading it. My time is to valuable to read something I'm not enjoying. I mostly read Chit-lit, Fiction, Historical Romance, some fantasy/magic.
One of my goals is to read the classics that have been on my 'to read' list for years. I also look forward to reading a book recommended from this book club so I can discuss it.
My favorite stories are the ones where I feel for the characters. If I gasp, sigh, laugh or cry it's a keeper. 5 stars if I've done all of the above.
