Solved Small demon boy named fen or fenny in a horror novel [s]

I just finished Roberts 7 trilogy. There is a demon who often takes the shape of a small evil feral boy. It rang a bell with me but my brain is fuzzy with bronchitis right now and I can't grab onto what book he reminded me of. It was a horror book, his name was Fen or Fenny and he traveled around with another older guy. That is all I can remember. Thanks for any help!

That is from Peter Straub's novel Ghost Story -- it's a subplot with a murderer/shapeshifter called Gregory Bate and his little (dead) brother Fenny Bate. They do in one of the book's protagonists.
