Right up my street! Just started The Long Goodbye.
Hi, I'm Ellen and I just joined the other day. I like crime and also WWI and WWII books and have read many. I just finished Private Life by Jane Smiley which covers the period from 1893 through 1941. The wars are more backdrop to the book. If anyone has read this book I would love to see some comments. I found it difficult to get into, but it was worth the trouble.
Hi Ellen, and welcome to the group. I hope you'll join us for our themed reads since you're a fan of crime and WWI/WWII books.
Waving hello. I'm Meg Waite Clayton - reader and writer, in both cases primarily novels. I read all over the place, with a particular fondness for well-written books with female protagonists (which is what I write, I hope!). I have two published novels, The Wednesday Sisters (a national bestseller!) and The Language of Light (which will be rereleased in paperback next summer). I've also got a new one coming in March, titled The Four Ms. Bradwells.I loved Private Life, Ellen. And was absolutely thrilled to be invited to introduce Jane Smiley when she read at Kepler's Books.
And I do love war novels. One I read some time ago, but has just recently been released - and I loved! - is Tatjana Soli's The Lotus Eaters

Hi I'm Jenn! I love to read all kinds of books. My favorite author is Harlan Coben. I also love any book narrated by a dog. LOL. Spencer Quinn has me hooked and I am about to read his 3rd book. I am always looking for book recommendations which is why I joined this group.
Hi there everyone.I'm Sharyla and I'm new to this group (hence the introduction). This is actually my first foray into groups on GoodReads. I'm looking forward to the experience.
I read all sorts of books, so I'm often looking for groups like this where you can feel comfortable discussing any genre of book.
I read just about anything I can get my hands on, but have a soft spot for historical fiction, historical romance, paranormal romance and some urban fantasy. I'm currently reading a book for review, Bloodmaiden by Christine E Shulze. I am one of the many out there with a book related blog. It's called A Bookish Wonderland.
My favorite books are Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett and Lamb by Christopher Moore.
I hope to meet many more readers, and I thank you all for reading my post.
Hi, I'm Kylie and I just joined today. I love to read literally everything, so I feel like this group is right up my alley. My favorites are military fiction, fantasy, thriller, and biographical. I have always wanted to join a book club, so here I am. Any suggestions you all have for books or anything, I am open to everything. Thank you for your time.
Hi everyone, I'm Amanda. :) I'll read pretty much anything, but I especially like fantasy/SciFi, YA, paranormal/supernatural, historical fiction, romance, action/adventure, books that make you think (I guess that could be any genre) etc. The setup of this book club seems really cool, and interesting, with the two themes a month thing. It's different, and seems very fun :)
Hello everyone. Looks like I'm the newest newbie here. I'm Vanessa A Johnson from Louisiana. I'm a lover of romance books, suspense (not scary I'm a scardie cat) memoirs, historical fiction, etc. I just love a well written book, plot/pacing, well developed characters. I've written non-fiction, fiction and poetry. I don't write in a particular genre, just whatever plays out in my head. I have a Sony eReader and am looking for some great reads to add to it.
Hey, everybody. Just joined the group today. I tend to read thrillers, mysteries and crime dramas but will consider anything that looks interesting. Looking forward to some good discussions and possible recommendations.
Hey all - just joined the group as well. There are a lot of books on the group's bookshelves that I'd like to read. Problem is, I've almost got more books on my to-read bookshelf than my read bookshelf! Crazy!I love books with fantastic characters - not necessarily characters that are 'good' but characters that you know intricately. My favorite authors are Wally Lamb and Chris Bohjalian. Look forward to future discussions!
Hey all! I'm Danie, I'm 20, and I'm from New York. I'm a nanny to a 1 year old little boy, he's my favorite little guy. I read as much as possible, whenever I can. I'm excited to meet and chat with you all!
Hi,I just joined. I love to read. I read everything except horror and non-fiction. I love memoirs and fiction and historical fiction. Right now, I'm reading The Gargoyle and it has evolved into an interesting story. I moved to another state and left my old friends and bookclub back there so I'm looking to have a good group to discuss books and read together. I loved my old book club. Looking forward to reading and discussing together.
Meg wrote: "Waving hello. I'm Meg Waite Clayton - reader and writer, in both cases primarily novels. I read all over the place, with a particular fondness for well-written books with female pr..."Hi Meg,
I actually have your book on my next read. That is The Wednesday Sisters. This book came highly recommended by friends. I hear it is quite a success. I look forward to reading your book.
Welcome everybody!!It feels like the mods aren't as active anymore, so let's try to give this group some life!!
Hi All!I'm Cathy from Tucson, AZ and new to the group. I'm a book addict and my tastes are all over the map.
I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone.
Cathy
Hey Cathy,Im from Mesa, AZ. :) I'm new too but I said hi a few posts ago. I love books too. I love the journey books take me on.
I'm Desiree, I reside in NC but am originally from NH. I love words, if a book is not around I will read food labels, etc. My interests are quite wide, it just depends on the mood that I am in. I love everything from classics and modern fiction (Jane Austen, Jonathan Tropper, etc) to non-fiction psychology or gender studies books. I cannot recall a time in my life where I didn't have a book waiting to be read, I love the escape it provides me. Some facts to further incriminate myself as a total book nerd: 1. All of my purses must be big enough to hold a trade size paperback.
2. My friends no longer want to help me move because of all of the books I own.
3. I get way too excited for my weekly trip to the library, where I lose track of all time (the reason the boyfriend no longer goes with me).
Hi, my name is Starry, I just found this group because I'm reading Last Night In Twisted River, one of your former group reads.I live in the south west of Western Australia and I read avidly between working on my own writing and working on my small business making handmade symbolic and healing jewellery.
I look forward to making more good read friends.
Hello - I'm Ellie, from Manchester, England. I read most types of books except Paranormal / vampires / angels or those sorts of books. Fav authors include J G Ballard and Haruki Murakami.
Hello, I am Joe Sherman from Covington, Ohio. I like to read nearly all genre except romance. My favorite western writer is Louis L'moure, while my favorite sci-fi writer has to be Dean Koontz. My favorite fantasy writer has to be Robert Jordan/Sanderson.(I enjoy the Wheel of Time sieries). I am currently behind on my reading do to a private project of mine consuming way to much time.(The Bloodline Chronicles Vol I) I hope it takes off soon. Anyway that is another story. I enjoy the outdoors. However, my health isn't what it used to be and my activities have become somewhat limited to where and what I can do without walking very far. I am also a dog lover, and pitty those who love cats instead. The last good book I read besides my own(haha) was The Hunger Games. I own the rest but have not had time to finish the series.
Glad to meet all of you. I work in voiceovers and music supervision, and live in Los Angeles. I recently became a GoodReads author (www.GoodReads.com/NatalieNicole) and welcome friends and new connections.
I've been reading through the history narratives of Erik Larson and recently finished reading Ragtime.
Look forward to getting to know you.

Ah.
So hi all. I'm a noob. Reader, former soldier, and writer as well. I see the pop up next to the typespace and can only hope I'm not a drama queen (or king) or troll.
Look forward to finding a good book. Have had a slew of them recently, and hope to continue that streak (I'jaam was great and so far Iraqi Christ looks good).
Cheers

hello Vanessa. ha e you tried john eckert. he is one of my favorite historical fiction authors. if you don't dislike westerns you should look him up.
Hello and welcome. Have you ever read any Dean Koontz? If not try his book, The Watchers. It is one of my all time favorites. It has some action and it seems you are not afraid of sci/fi and I you have to love a book where one of the main characters is a dog. lol
