conflicted by the title/ name

Am I missing something here? The word Sojourner reflects a temporary stay/ visit- temporary. However the name- Sojourner Truth represents the struggle for the rights of black people..... for a woman who had such hope, aspiration and perseverance for her cause, I doubt she felt that it was to be temporary in any way.....
so it just doesn't make sense to me- does anyone have any further insight?

Quite right, Danielle. The temporary stay to which her name refers may be related to a belief that we are "resident aliens" in this world and that our real home, to which we will return, is in heaven. This state is reflected in the oft-repeated phrase that we are "in the world, but not of it." Maybe?
