PJ and I have been trying to figure out some ways to try to minimize errors in the readerboard. I know it's frustrating for you when your points are not accurate, or you don't see the big books or goodreads authors you've claimed. After spending the last few days on this, I am completely in awe of the job Cynthia has been doing. We're having to figure out a lot as we go, and I know this hasn't been perfect.

So, we're asking for your help. If everyone would follow these guidelines, it might help.

1. If your goodreads name (the one that shows up when you post on these boards) and your readerboard name are not exactly alike, you MUST include your readerboard name at the top of the post. This will help to minimize errors, and will cut down on the amount of detective work needed to match up posts and readerboard names.
2. It would be best if you only list newly completed tasks - do not include previously completed tasks and partially completed tasks. If you want to include this extra information, list the newly completed tasks separately, and indicate clearly that they are the new ones.
3. It's fine to include more than one completed task in a post. If you do include more than one task , put them in numerical sequence, rather than jumping around.
4. You must include either a link to the book or the title and author of the book. This was stated at the beginning of the Completed Tasks thread, when Cynthia opened it up for posting. (see post #1 in that thread)
5. Before posting, please re-read the task requirements and then re-read your post to make sure you've done everything the task requires - this seems to be a particular problem with the tasks that require some sort of write-up. Be sure to look at the list PJ posted for Extra Task Requirements - it's a great summary of what you need to do for each task in addition to reading the book(s). http://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/3715...
6. If you want to claim a Goodreads author or a Big Books ticket, please say so in your post. And keep in mind the rules for Big Book tickets - you can only claim once for a book over 500 pages, once for a book over 750 pages and once for a book over 1000 pages. If you read 6 books that are 500-749 pages, you still just get 1 Big Books ticket.

Thanks so much for your help in this!

7. It's best to have the Task #, short (1-5 words) task title, book link (+author) on a separate line with a blank line before and afer.

scherzo♫ (pjreads) In case you forget to put your Readerboard name at the top of your post, another way to help us match your post to the Readerboard:

Add some unique information in the Last Name field of your profile.

It will show up when the cursor hovers over the avatar and is very helpful in distinguishing between people with the same GR First Name.

READBOARD Name
5.1 Dewey Decimal System Task I: In the 100s
The Elements of Moral Philosophy by James Rachels The Elements of Moral Philosophy by James Rachels -- GR Author or Not (# of Stars)
My short book review and/or book explanation to support task requirements.

5.1 Dewey Decimal System Task II: In the 200s
Confucianism and Taoism by Religion Scriptures Confucianism and Taoism by Religion Scriptures -- GR Author or Not (# of Stars)

Additional task requirements paragraph. Such as - why you prefer Task II over Task I *or* you watched such&such movie *or* you performed the optional task of leading a religious debate, etc etc.

Total Points: 210
Any other statistics and Ticker

I'd rather have Total Points before anything else including points for tasks in the current post (which doesn't help me at all).

Perhaps this post was written before the change was made, but I read in one of these recent threads that we could now claim a Big Book ticket for each book we read with 500+, 850+, or 1000+ pages. I believe the question was asked by another member and answered by pjreads.

Could you clarify which way is correct?

The rule will change for the Fall Challenge
