Mutt | 98 comments Edward is an undead seventeen-year old boy, and it shows. Let's be honest for a minute. Why is there a vampire in high school? Hell, a better question would be “Why is there a seventeen year old vampire?” While there is an explanation given in the series, it doesn't exactly cure my frustrations at the fact that somebody was cruel enough to transform what is effectively a child, into a vampire.

Now, a few folks would point out that Carlisle did ask Edward first, which seems like a nice thing to do until you look at the circumstances that ol' Eddie faced. He was DYING, and not of something that would have offered him a quick death. The Spanish Flu drowned you by filling your lungs with a bloody frothy mucus. His family already dead from the illness, he's also gonna be terrified of dying. So, when somebody says that they can stop the painful, terrifying death that he's gonna be experiencing in a few moments, he's gonna jump on it without thinking, ain't he? Edward was played. At the end of the day, Edward was manipulated into becoming a vampire, which explains why he's so good at manipulating Bella.

When you call out to someone and are far enough to have to catch up to them, it's not to tell them about your decision to not be friends with you. Edward does this. He also offers her a lift to Seattle a few lines later. In the words of the Internet, WTF? It's the kind of thing that “bay boy” types do, playing the “Oooh, stay away from me, I'm dangerous” card and yet constantly making a point of being around. Edward pulls this a few times before he and Bella actually get together, which is where other issues start, such as putting his entire family in danger for the sake a what could be little more than a teen girl's crush on their adopted son.

Long story short, he's controlling, manipulative and frankly immature, no matter how much he tries to act differently.

Laura | 170 comments why the hell don't they just say they're 18?

Poindextεrr. (carpe_diem) | 13 comments I still don't get how he got Bella pregnant....-_-

Laura | 170 comments does anybody?

get a life meyer. did you really expect people would believe that?

message 7: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments There's absolutely no explanation for how that happened...

message 8: by Poindextεrr. (new)

Poindextεrr. (carpe_diem) | 13 comments There really isn't. That was a fail on her part.

message 9: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments Yesh, and she tried to be all smart about it, trying to come with with an accurate explanation, when there is none.

message 10: by Poindextεrr. (new)

Poindextεrr. (carpe_diem) | 13 comments Whaa? Pssh, what "explanation" could she possibly have?

message 11: by Nightshade (new)

Nightshade | 1257 comments Check out her website. It's full of crap that tries to justify Bella's mutant child.

Seriously, she broke the rules of her own universe. Rule #1 of Creating Your Own Fictional Universe states that once you establish your rules, you can't break them. If you're going to use real-life Earth, people can't levitate, dogs can't talk, etc. In SM's universe, vampires exist (and they sparkle, apparently). Vampires also cannot have children.

Then she BREAKS HER OWN RULES and goes and has Bellaphant get preggers from Eddiekins and his Pelvic Thrust of Death (thankies for the lovely name, Rose).

She actually says on her website that she couldn't stand to NOT give all her characters a happy ending. HELLO, Ms. Meyer? THEY'RE NOT YOUR BABIES. THEY'RE NOT REAL.

message 12: by Kimathy (new)

Kimathy they all needed to get hurt at least in the end! XD die nessie!

message 13: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments I can't say I agree with your last statement, Shade. Yeah, they're not real, but you do get close to them. You INVENTED them!!

And in the last volume of Fruits Basket, pictures of the characters would come up and it would say something about Mrs. Takaya saying goodybe to her characters...and wanting them to have a happy ending is just a widespread thing...ya know? They're *sigh*...they're like non-existent people that you love and want the best for.

Ravenclaw26 | 105 comments Also, (I think) 17 is the age where a human has the most amount of brain cells, but most seventeen year olds are too young and immature to do great things. Edward, however, has been seventeen for a hundred years. Why go to high school when you can go to college (pretending to be a child genius) and get some degrees. Then he can make the world a better place. The Cullens have been given a great gift. What assholes.

message 15: by Rose (new)

Rose (iceclaw) | 2069 comments I just find it stupid that they go to school at all.

message 22: by Mutt (new)

Mutt | 98 comments The saddest thing is that Edward could have at least have been redeemed in the film series if Paramount had held onto the rights to the film, rather than selling them off. They'd wanted to ignore the film and turn Edward Cullen into some sort of asskicking vampire commando.

They should have stayed with commando the movie would have been better and I would have loved to see the Korean guy have a martial arts battle with him.

Exactly it would be interesting and not many people hate on action films so people who liked it would have been cool and the people who didn't wouldn't have made a big deal it would be a win win

Heck, I know a 1000 year old virgin! (in a sense...In a video game....he time traveled so much that he aged...you get it...this makes my chuck norris-like statement awkward...so I'll just shut up now....)

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

between the lines (between_the_liness) Rules for not getting attention:

1.Never sparkle.
2.Don't own a fancy car.
3.If you are so good looking that people can't lift their eyes of your face, don't come out of your house much less go to school.
