I'd be all in, but Cyanide Interactive? That worries me, their catalog of games doesn't seem very strong. It looks like Pro Cycling Manager 2010 is their top game.Does anyone know more about Cyanide Interactive?
Regards, Jim
I'm afraid it will be like most movie remakes, sadly lacking in comparison to the book. Hope I'm wrong because the story is fantastic!
hmm... looks to be a Total War type of sim. Not my cup of tea, but I'll buy it regardless; to support the franchise. Not meaning to hijack the thread, but I started my group on the Song of Ice and Fire RPG last weekend. I'm liking it a lot so far. Your group builds its own house and it has good rules for courtly intrigue. The resources for the game, also, are very nice. Learned about the war of the Ninepenny Kings and a lot of backstory that I'd always wondered about.
In researching, also found this website that has some great portraits of the Targaryen line: http://www.asshai.com/biblioteca/hist...
I know GRRM has a lot on his plate - and he was ill and he got married - but does anyone know if he has hinted at when the next book is out? It seems a long time since he mentioned it on his site
Actually in his Feb 27th "Not A Blog" entry, he mentioned that he was still ticking away at it and that things were making progress: "And on other fronts... it's still snowing on Skull Island, but one of the krakens is done and t'other is down to the last tentacle. Closer and closer... inch by inch, word by word, step by step..."I take these little tidbits as good news. Much better news than when he writes about the Jets or Giants losing and calls his "mood" "life is empty and full of pain."
Just another case which drove me to my current policy of "read no book in a series till the series is done". I didn't read any Harry Potter till last summer. Same for Goodkind's volumes. I do make exceptions for sub-series. For instance I did read Herbert's & Anderson's Dune books, but only after each section was done such as the "House of..." books. These series have a lot going on and to have any hope of actually grasping the full story, you need to have a lot of the details still fresh in your mind and reading 9 books across 10+ years means I have to reread a lot of a series to have any hope of knowing what the author was trying to communicate across the whole story. I have enough trouble keeping up with my ever-growing "to read" list let alone having to revisit old books.I guess I should thank those of you that don't follow my rule or multi-book series would quickly die in the publishing industry.
The board game is fun http://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/64...It has a few flaws but I believe the expansions ironed a few of those out

I started down this road as an early adopter of Hamilton's void series and had to wait a long time between episodes. My additional policy of waiting until paperback means I'm still waiting to read Evolutionary Void.
Except - I violated my new policy by starting Martin's series. At least I have two more to read before I get to the stoppage and hopefully Martin will be caught up (although the entire series is supposed to be 7 books, I think)

"If you haven't read any of George R. R. Martin's "A Song of Fire and Ice" books, you really should. I've only gotten through the first book, A Game of Thrones, so far, but it was a great read. Now it's set to be a videogame, with Cyanide Interactive announcing that the Starks and the Lannisters will settle their difference is in a real-time strategy game.
A Game of Thrones: Genesis will give players a variety of methods with which to control the kingdom of Westeros, utilizing military strength, diplomacy, and all manner of treachery. Sieges, spies, assassinations and ransoms are all on the cards, which sounds pretty much like the book. Lots of political intrigue and backstabbing bastardry. Perfect!"
