Rayna | 1785 comments I am finding it so hard to find a GOOD Vamp movie....i dont know about you guys but they are lacking! i mean i love the twilight series and will always be a die harder but the Vampires Assistant...sorry guys i shut it off half way thru....and i hear they are coming out with a spoof on Twilight...what next?????? A good vamp movie should be dark, sexy, and a bit scary....i for one do not want to go to a theatre and to watch a vamp movie and laugh the whole way thru!

I have recently watched Daybreakers....and for those who havent shame on you! i LOVED it and with all those cheesy vamp movies coming out i am really glad to see a worthwhile one!
So please....Friday is coming and go get your hands on it....you wont be dissapointed!

Plot....
In a world 10 years into the future, vampires make up the vast majority of the population with only 5% of the human race remaining. This presents particular challenges as the vampires' food supply - human blood - is dwindling and rationing is now the norm. There is growing evidence that vampires deprived of an adequate blood supply are themselves evolving into wild, vile creatures that attack anyone and anything in order to survive. Dr. Edward Dalton, a vampire and hematologist who works for a pharmaceutical firm, has been working on finding an artificial blood supply that will meet the vampire society's needs. He is sympathetic to humans and sees his work as a way of alleviating their suffering but his views on finding a solution change considerably when he meets someone who found a way to transform himself from being a vampire to again take human form.

Hope you enjoy it and please tell me your thoughts....they put a different twist on vamps, i always like to see different!!!

Creature | 124 comments Hello:
I saw "Daybreakers" and liked it also. The plot was well paced and the fact that Vampires now dealt with corporate crap kind of made me chuckle (it's so deeply entrenched that even in death one cannot escape corporate mentality...AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH).
The other thing I liked about this movie was the very original route taken for re-convergence. It was a surprise to me and I love surprises. Still, this is not typical vampirism though it is a great movie. I agree with Rayna; If you're a true vamp fan (as in blood fanatic, can't get enough of the stuff) this one is a must see.

I'm still waiting for a new, classic, scary new vampire movie. I know great ideas are out there yet I wait.
The "Creature"

Rayna | 1785 comments Creature.....i unfortunately think we may be waiting a while for a good new typical vamp movie...but i will dare to dream and take ones that may not fit the mold but are actually good story lines and make me go... huh that was actually pretty good!

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) Yes while it is an intriguing premise, Vampires for me will always be the mysterious, dangerous outsiders above common human society, like some relic of the monarchy, when divine right was still in vogue.

One of the reasons why I'm a bit leery about this is because it makes vampirism common and mundane almost, two words I would never use to describe them.

Like Creature I too await a proper, classical, well done vampire movie. There are interesting and novel interpretations of the bloodsucker but none touches a chord as true as the old school vampire, creature of mayhem and mystery, personage of fear and finesse and figure of romance and ravenous evil:)

Rayna | 1785 comments I agree Woolfie too, however you should check it out! you may be surprised at its content eventhough it is not your ideal vamp movie it is an enjoyable way to pass an evening possibly with popcorn!

So i ask this????? What book would make a GREAT vamp movie in your eyes????

message 6: by Ross (new)

Ross Bauer (nightlightknight) Call me unimaginative ;p but Dracula of course.
But other than that, Brian Lumley's Necroscope would be interesting to see

Also if they could expand Nosferatu properly and not give it the talentless, poptastic hollywood treatment then the'd be something worth seeing.

The trouble with re visiting the classics is it goes back to the cliches that people know, like the recent remake of the Wolfman. The moon was used as a hammer to bash us in the head, ok we get it already!

Or how about if they turned Helsing into a movie ;p

Rayna | 1785 comments i would agree to all but renditions of previous movies. you see once youve seen it and it remade even once after that is enough! Put it to bed and get on with a different idea! Hollywood these days is lacking imagination in my opinion and i get very bored with watching the same plot redone all the time to keep up with technology! Dracula has been done twice i believe an while both were good if they came out with another one i think id shoot myself! Wolfman too....as i did like the graphics in the second, i would hae been fine with a digitally inhanced copy of the original! I thought they did turn Helsing into a movie???? im going to have to go and check my library on that but im pretty sure thats been done as well!

Looking back at all the books ive read i would have a hard time really taking just one book to be made into a movie....there are many series sets i wouldnt mind seeing but i think tv/movie indusrty wouldnt consider because i dont think it would get the attention that twilight did and they are DEFINATELY not made for TV....lol

So i sit waiting as do you for something that really makes me excited!

OMG!!! YES, NECROSCOPE!!!!!!! Could u just imagine the Old Thing in the ground!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And yes, Rayna, Van Helsing is already a movie. Lol

I would also love to see Immortals After Dark as a movie/series.

message 9: by Rayna (new)

Rayna | 1785 comments Immortals after dark may be a bit too hot and steamy for a series and i think it may be too long for a movie series....still would be very good either one!

I hear Mead just sold movie rights to Vampire Acedemy Series too!

We should vote necroscope to the powers that be!!!! good choice Woolfie!
