Translation and effect on humor

I have the impression, mistakenly probably, that the particular translation which I am reading contributes to the humor of the book.
Of course, it would be best to compare passages of different translations to see if this is true.

If Cervantes humor really is as contemporary as it seems, it would be, for me, an incredible discovery.
