I read The Hiding Place long ago and thought it was a wonderful book. Please vote for it at that listopia for 1,000 Christian books. I am looking for the link to get back there right now. Many books need to be added so please help if you can.
I saw the movie before reading the book - powerful!!!

Definitely should be read more than once.
I plan to expand, this year, in reading mission/missionaries. This will be one of my next read books. I am open to any other suggestions, too!!

She was speaking at a church and unbeknownst to her in the audience was one of the cruel Nazi guards in the camp where her sister died. He stood in line to talk to her. When she saw him, she was shocked. He said he was impressed with her message. He went on to say that after the war, he got saved. Then he expressed sincere sorrow for his sins: his brutality, horrible words, and actions. This former Nazi guard reached out his hand and asked, 'Could you find it in your heart to forgive me?'' Corrie shared how her hand became frozen to her side. She heard the Holy Spirit say, ''just take his hand, Corrie. Just take his hand.'' With supernatural effort, she commanded her arm to rise and ordered her hand to take his. At the moment their hands grasped, Corrie felt all the hatred and all the pain, and all her grief drain out. She was left with the peace of Christ that passes all understanding.
In that challenging moment, she forgave the man Christ forgave, just as God had forgiveness her. She became victorious over temptation.
Years later Corrie went on to be with the Lord. Corrie ten Boon stands as a shining example to all believers because she fought the good fight. She kept the faith. She finished the race,. Now she is wearing the crown of righteousness.
Let us follow her example and say no to our pride and no to our human sense of justice and by humbly admitting our need for mercy and forgive the unforgivable and love the unloveable. Then we can rejoice with Corrie one day as we hear Jesus say, ''well done My good and faithful servant.''
