What are you reading right now?
Still plowing through "IT". I love it so far. And I'm trying to decide between Joe Hills "Horns" or Michael Crichtons Pirate latitudes.

Ethan wrote: "Still plowing through "IT". I love it so far. And I'm trying to decide between Joe Hills "Horns" or Michael Crichtons Pirate latitudes."IT is probably the book I've re-read the most. Since my first time at the age of 13 I've read the book 4 times and listened to the audiobook when I was on a cross country bus trip. And I still feel like I pick up on new things each time. Definitely one of my all time favorites.
When I read 11/22/67 I was overjoyed when part of the story took place in late 50's Derry.

And I'm trying to decide between Joe Hills "Horns" or Michael Crichtons Pirate latitudes."I have no idea how Joe Hill writes as I had not yet read any of his books but I have read all of Crichton's books & Pirate Latitudes has to be his worst book.It was actually a manuscript he did not even finish but was published after his death as a money grab.If you really want to read a Crichton novel i suggest his techno-thrillers like Jurassic Park or Prey.
I have read Jurassic park already. And I know pirate latitudes was just kinda found in his files after he died but I bought it for only a couple bucks so I will at least give it a try I guess.
Just started with Pet Sematary.Ethan wrote: "I have read Jurassic park already. And I know pirate latitudes was just kinda found in his files after he died but I bought it for only a couple bucks so I will at least give it a try I guess."
Sure go ahead maybe you will even like it though the next time you buy a Crichton you might give either Disclosure or The Great Train Robbery a try. Both of them are his early books & completely different from any thing else he later wrote.
Jurassic park and Lost world are all I've read of his nooks so far. But I own Timeline,Prey,Micro, and pirate latitudes also. Maybe I'll try Timeline it sounds great and I've heard good things :). Thanks for the advice though. None of my friends read his stuff so I don't really know what his best novels are considered to be.

I just finished The Girl Who Played with Fire last night, now I'll be off to The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest.

Me too ..sorreee!!!
Dustin wrote: "I just finished The Girl Who Played with Fire last night, now I'll be off to The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest."Even though the series is incomplete...I found the end of Hornet's Nest to be kind of ironically perfect. Hope you enjoy the last book. Just hang on...it's a wild ride, too, if I remember correctly!

Thank you, Kathryn! I've no doubt that it'll be a bumpy ride.:) I'm only about 31 pages in, and I'm liking the developments so far, but it's a little redundant. And I want to see Salander!!
I sure hope that the end is satisfying..
I think you'll enjoy Carrie! It's a great one, IMO.:)

I loved Carrie, amazed I'd never read it before! Did you finish neverending story by the way, Kathryn?

Good, I'm glad to hear that you're enjoying it so far. It always amazes me that Carrie is quite good, seeing as how it was King's first published novel. The brilliance was there, even then, IMO.

Yeah, I'm not sure why I haven't read it yet. I finished The Neverending Story back in November, I believe. I really liked it! The first part really reminded me of the movie, which I loved. It had some differences, but that's to be expected. It's weird though...I must be partial to the movie, because I still think the movie was better.

I know I've seen bits and pieces of the film years and years ago, but I'm not sure that I've ever seen it in its entirety.
Have you seen the original version of Carrie?

She does such an amazing job!
Kathryn wrote: "I am reading Carrie by Stephen King for the first time."Its a great book & if you like it you might want to read Firestarter (even better in my opinion) after this just to see how versatile an author King is.He takes the exact concept in both the books but where Carrie is a horror story Firestarter is more of sci-fi & thriller.
After I finish Gone Girl. I'm going to read The Green Mile to my Matthew. He's never read a single King novel. How does that happen? I don't even know what that means.
I JUST finished Clive Barker's The Great and Secret Show, and it was just meh to me. Could have been much better in my opinion. Now i'm starting to read

"Wooo-hooo, Dan, I LOVE A Scanner Darkly!! I hope you do, too.
Aditya, I might just do that! I haven't read Firestarter so it would be interesting to see the similarities and differences. I have been in the mood for shorter books the last week or so, so Firestarter just might be the ticket. Thanks!
Kathryn wrote: "Aditya, I might just do that! I haven't read Firestarter so it would be interesting to see the similarities and differences. Currently, I'm reading a lot. About six novels, and a comicbook (it counts!). I've put myself on a very strict schedule, so that I get maximum reading done, and it's less daunting. I plan to focus on one book a day. This is what I'm reading:Lord of The Rings, Gray (by Pete Wentz), Eragon, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, It, Dirty Blonde: The Diaries of Courtney Love, and Watchmen
That is in order, starting with LOTR on Monday, and Watchmen on Sunday.
My mother will tell me I'm crazy, but from this point forward, I will be reading seven books at any given time.
Read The Hellbound Heart today. It was a fun, short, gory read :DI'm in the mood for a King, so I'm going to re-read Firestarter. I haven't read it since I was a teenager, so I don't remember it well.

I hope you enjoy the re-read, Courtney!

I told my mother that I was reading seven books about twenty minutes ago. She looked at me like I had something growing out of my forehead. I can do this! I'll show 'er!

I absolutely loved Firestarter!
Ethan wrote: "Firestarter is one of my favorites."Jacob wrote: "I absolutely loved Firestarter! "
Firestarter is one of my favorites & i think it only gets overlooked by fans as it is not horror at all.

I will glad share your thoughts on the trilogy as a whole, as well as the individual books. I'm hoping to finish TGWPWF later today. Please feel free to check out my review of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, if you wouldn't mind. Thank you.
