message 3255: by Melissa (new)

Melissa | 22 comments Right now I'm reading The Fear by Charlie Higson. It's book two in a series of seven I believe. Basically it's about a disease that either kills everyone over the age of sixteen or turns them into mindless husks that walk around eating people, much like zombies. The books follow groups of children as they try to survive to hordes of hungry adults. The first book takes place a year after the disease took over. This book takes place three weeks after and we are following a group of kids different from the ones in the first book. Its been said that through the series the surviving character will end up connecting. I like it so far.

That sounds like a very interesting idea and approach to a horror series.

That is what caught my attention to the series. We've all seen how adults act when zombies are involved. It's a nice change to see that children can be strong and could survive on their own if necessary.

message 3264: by Denis (new)

Denis Pedersen | 44 comments I've started a re-read of The Wheel of Time: Boxed Set and hope to be all done before the conclusion in January next year (we'll see if mankind can survive that long)... so far I'm about half way through the second book The Great Hunt .. I WILL be reading a book or two between each installment though, as I seem to remember book 5 through 10 being a bit longish (although I'm a big fan of the late Robert Jordan (and Brandon Sanderson for that matter)).

Veronica (veraj121) | 300 comments I am reading Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn and a Heart-Shaped Box by Joe Hill . Both very good books.

Hi, Jason!

I really hope you enjoy Pillars as much as I did. Its only downfall, IMO, is Follet's poor writing..

I've always loved the end of The Great Hunt, as well. And I agree that it's some of Robert Jordan's best work. I only wish the rest of the series had been written more along the lines of this one.. then I might have finished reading A Wheel of Time!
