Bondama (kerensa) | 868 comments Dustin - there seems to be some confusion here - The Karin Slaughter I was talking about is Norwegian - and she IS listed as the author of "Fallen" - but GR has her listed as "having written no book as of yet....?

The Karen Slaughter GR has listed as an author is the author of several books, none of which I've read -- BUT I will tell you, I'm currently turned on by Denmark's favorite crime writer, Jussi Adler-OlsenThe Keeper of Lost Causes which is truly exciting, and will deserve at least four stars when it's finished - and I can hardly put it down!

Well, I have heard of her work, and I could be mistaken, but I seem to recall a blurb or two about her by SK...

I might have to read this. Everyone keeps telling me it's great. I thought the movie was pretty creepy, too.

I'm listening to 11/22/63 in the car and I Am the Messenger at home...Need to pick up a real book pretty soon, I guess!

message 1917: by Marco (new)

Marco (marcofr) | 4 comments I'm reading The Darkest Room right now. I've recently read Echoes from the Dead and The Darkest Room is the second book in the series set in Oland, Sweden. Echoes from the Dead was really good!

message 1918: by Char (new)

Char I'm reading Siren. It's very good so far...in fact I stayed up late because I couldn't put it down.

message 1919: by Dani (new)

Dani Landry (danilandry) About 20% through 1Q84. My first by this author. Style is unlike anything I've read before but I like it.

message 1920: by [deleted user] (new)

A book that I think is just as good as Stephen King's finer works:
Bad Moon Rising (Pine Deep, #3) by Jonathan Maberry - Bad Moon Rising by Jonathan Maberry

After that for me it's:
Night Shift by Stephen King

Denis Pedersen | 44 comments I just finished The Ruins by Scott B. Smith even though I thought the movie sucked I really liked the book (4 stars)... I would probably read some more from the author if only he had written more than two books in almost 20 years...

Just started The Warded Man (Demon Cycle, #1) by Peter V. Brett by Peter V. Brett ... 50 pages in it's building up pretty good I think ;)

// Edit: I have The Warded Man (Demon Cycle, #1) by Peter V. Brett in the UK edition, and I must say it's the ugliest cover on a book ever : The Painted Man (Demon Cycle, #1) by Peter V. Brett ... I dare everyone to find me an uglier bookcover than this (I would almost find it embarrassing to read in a public place (ALMOST)) ;-)

I read Patient Zero (Joe Ledger, #1) by Jonathan Maberry a week ago... My first Maberry novel, but definitely not my last :-)
Just ordered and The Dragon Factory (Joe Ledger, #2) by Jonathan Maberry , Ghost Road Blues (Pine Deep, #1) by Jonathan Maberry and Bad Moon Rising (Pine Deep, #3) by Jonathan Maberry

message 1923: by [deleted user] (new)

By the way Mummi, you will need to buy Dead Man's Song (Pine Deep, #2) by Jonathan Maberry - Pine Deep 2, because Ghpst road Blues is Pine Deep 1 and Bad Moon Rising is Pine Deep 3

It was an enjoyable read, although some parts were hard to get through, dealing with violence against women and rape.

message 1929: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Yes, it is a VERY dark book. The title suits it perfectly, IMO!

message 1930: by Char (last edited Jan 09, 2012 10:28AM) (new)

Char I absolutely LOVED the Pine Deep Trilogy. I just discovered Maberry last year, so I am trying to catch up with all his stuff.

I just finished Siren. It was scary and sensual all at once. A 4* for me.
I also just finished a short that I really loved:
To Read or Not to Read. 5* from me. This short is currently free!

I just started KIN. Too soon to tell.
