I can't read the book first, or I always hate the movie. The book is always better. If I start with the movie, I can enjoy both.
Dreamcatcher was one of those movies that didnt really make sense to me, and I kept thinking the book probably explained everything.

Samantha (girlswallowedbythesea) I'm reading The Shining, and quite enjoying making my way through the large pile of King books I bought at a yard sale at the beginning of summer. (:
Next in line: Dreamcatcher

If you haven't seen the movie, The Sandlot, ya gotta see it.

Library Lady 📚 | 91 comments I used to find King paperbacks for $.25 or $.50 at yard sales...I should probably try that again! I read a lot of his stuff in hs, but I'm just now starting to read it again. Call me dark, but that's my 'summer reads' material!

Then we are very opposite;)
I must, or I prefer reading the book before seeing the movie adaption. 'Cause when I see the actors, see what the persons from the book look like it just messes up my head. I must imagine them myself first by reading the book and then compare it to the ones on screen. I'm probably just weird. I don't know:)

message 1479: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) I finished reading The Stand tonight and will start on Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter tomorrow. I won this book on Giveaways and should be a fast read. It's about a 1/4 the length as The Stand which was close to 1200 pages.

Bondama (kerensa) | 868 comments Bianca --"Perfume" is an extraordinary book -- Even after three re-reads, still can't make up my mind whether or not it is extraordinarily awful, or extraordinarily good!! I will say, though, "Perfume" is most definitely the most unusual book I've read in my life!

I am looking forward to your review!!

Is the movie based on this book? I didn't know there was a book, but the movie "Perfume" was exceptionally twisted and disturbing. I still have no idea if I liked it.

I am listening to Stationary Bike by Stephen King right now, but I just found Dolores Claiborne hardback at my library sale for $1.50, so I may revisit that soon!

message 1497: by Bondama (new)

Bondama (kerensa) | 868 comments Lena, the movie is based on the book, but the book is much, much more powerful - and it gets the idea across so incredibly better than the movie.

Library Lady 📚 | 91 comments I might read it. The movie had some major holes, but it was quite powerful.
