Sorry RA, when I made the post I had a vision of making a gross faux pas but decided to leave it as I have a thing about sons ringing their Mums at the moment. I hope you are not offended.

good word...that describes my days perfectly. :)
I had to ask Jackie what it meant. And then I thought she was messing with me and looked it up myself to be sure.
Peripatetic. That's a tough one for gym use, but I'll give it a shot. And yes, I do talk with people at the gym. If you go during the same time slot on a regular basis you always see the same folks there, so why not get to know them a little?

I guess, especially if you walk around and around the treadmill. But I'm not doing cardio tomorrow anyway. Fridays are weights: upper body.
That word is perfect! It will go right along with my daily threat to my children...and a bonus will be the lost look they'll get when I say it...then they will ask me what it means, and I will once again refer them to the dictionary. They HATE that!
Okay, I'm heading out and will try to work the word into a conversation. Will report back...

it was just a way to use the word creatively and in a fun way
I was totally unable to work "peripatetic" into my gym conversation, mostly out of a fear of future ostracism.However, I did just manage to use the word at Barnes and Noble, asking for directions to the section with the detective fiction. The clerk told me the way, and then I asked him if I could go via a slightly different route "if I wanted to take a peripatetic path."
He said, "Sure."

While watching my son play at the park, my mom made a comment about a woman who was helping her child on a swing. I turned around just as the lady (not a slender one) bent over at the waist to pick something up. I got basically the full Monty, as whatever underthings she was wearing disappeared up into her nether regions. EEEWWWW!Anyway, I sarcastically offered my thanks to mom for having me turn just then, and I told her that my normally peripatetic dreams would have a much sharper nightmare focus tonight.

guy: [taking one headphone out:] what?
me: hot ain't it?

I would have lost my nerve too, Kevin. Guys walking along the tracks are not to be toyed with...Phil, excellent story and great use of the word!
