anyone watching the cricket? India for the win :D

Since I'm traveling over Christmas break, it makes it a little hard to do all the schoolwork I need to (I'm home-schooled). So I'm taking a slightly longer break, but then I'm really gonna have to cram when I get back home. XP Not looking forward to that...

ugh, do not even start on cricket. my dad is obsessed with it. we bought, like, 6 extra channels just so he could get "full-coverage" of the games.

Your home-schooled? one of my friends moms is considering home-schooling, but she's not really sure if she should. how does it work, exactly? do you like it? did you ever go to public school?

I come from Australia, and both my parents came from countries where cricket was huge so I'm really into it :)

But at least if you're homeschooled your teacher understands that you don't have the time.

Well, I went to a private christian school until second grade, but I've never been to a public school. (I might end up going to one next year, though.) But the way I'm home schooled is a little different. My family is signed up with a public "charter school" program, and they have a person who comes out to my house every month or so to get an update on how and what we are doing. Most of my classes are online, like math, chem, and others, but I do english and stuff out of a textbook. I like homeschooling, but theres pros and cons. Like if you need help on something in, say, Chem, but your parents or siblings haven't taken it, you're kinda stuck. Which sucks. A lot. AND you don't really get nearly as much social interaction, unless you do things like sports and stuff. But there's some really great things about it too. Like Kate said, your "teacher" understands if you don't have time, so your schedule is a TON more flexible. I just kinda do all my schoolwork in whatever order I feel like, which is nice. Also, I'm traveling right now, for 7 weeks, over Christmas break. Except that I technically only get 2 weeks of break, so I'm doing some schoolwork, but taking a lot more weeks off than I'm supposed to. The nice thing about homeschooling is that I can work my schedule to catch up when I get back. So yeah, I guess I like it. But I don't think its smart to homeschool all the high-school years, because the experiences are so different.
Okay, sorry that was soooooo long, but trust me, thats the condensed version!

btw, thanks! that is really good to know! i'll be sure to tell my friend(although i think the limited social interaction will be good for her. she's not exactly known for her charm and grace. :p).
