There's only one library in my town atm, so I can only get books from that one! And when I order books, it'll usually take them about six months or they just won't get it at all... Which is disappointing. I get it, though. We only have two stories and our shelves are pretty full already. Every time we buy a new book, we have to get rid of an old one.
This is fascinating. We should have a topic just for discussing library systems.
That makes sense, Rivka. That's probably the equivalent of what we have here. Smaller towns are probably worse off.

Yeah, I kinda feel bad for small libraries sometimes

It really is, but i usually stay up till midnight or a little after reading. :) i read way faster when im alone so i get books done. But reading before bed is the best.
Yes, definitely.
It's terribly annoying when you have to get up the next morning, though, and can't read so late.

Yes, especially during school, i want to read but i have to get up early.

[walks in blearily on this conversation with grey circles under my eyes] I definitely never do that ever at all nope.

U shouldve seen me yesterday.

yea that is true I guess life doesn't take to kindly that we always have our nose in a book at some point in time
From what I read it's kinda like yours in the fact that VA's library systems are divided into counties, and I can put a hold on a book and get it shipped from any library in my library system to my main library. They do also have the inter library loan but I've never used it. You can request books for them to buy, but it'll either take a while for them to do it, or they may never do it. I don't think I had to pay for my library card when I got it, but if you lose your library card, you have to pay to replace it (which one of my sisters did have to do because I accidentally lost it when I had it one time cause I was picking her hold up at the library cause I was going to pick mine up and why take an extra trip). And I have no idea what y'all are talking about with this whole "renewing your library card" thing cause I don't think I have to????? And you can always just edit your information on the website. With ours you just have to use it. If you don't use your library card for a certain amount of time (which I don't know the length) your library card doesn't work anymore and you can get a new one free of charge. I think I can also get library cards in some surrounding counties even though I don't live in them, but I see no reason to cause the libraries are farther away and it would just be a hassle. There are (I think) three libraries that I can get to in a 20 minute radius. There is one a little further down the highway, but I'm not sure how long it takes to get there. And then there's one on the way to church. But I mostly just go to the one 5 minutes (if traffics good cause highway and it's all right turns) away

feel free to follow link to learn more I guess

@Zechariah: Woah, that's awesome!!
@Johanna: It's a little different in different states. The libraries in Pennsylvania are split up by county. All the libraries in one county (expect for those that decide to be independent for varying stupid reasons) are connected. I can order a book from any library in the county and have it sent to my local library. I can also do what is called Inter Library Loan or ILL, where I can request a book from anywhere in the state. Reasons I don't do that often are it takes longer to receive the book, you can have it for a shorter period of time, renewing is trickier, you cannot get new books that way, and it costs the library more money. So I just get memberships in different counties because it's less hassle.
