This is why I decided not to take bio...

message 25606: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 3428 comments Meli: you have a option not to take bio?

:O That's cool that you have the choice.

Do you have to take a college biology course for your lab, Rebecca? Or do you have options?

Rebecca | 3428 comments @Zechariah: I have choices. I might take Chem because I liked that way better than bio. I won't have to decide for a little bit though because I'm not taking it until next January.

Yeah so long as you take one science, you're good. I opted out of bio and I was planning on taking Chem, but it conflicted with my schedule so I ended up just taking Physics

Alfredo master?

message 25620: by Abby Elizabeth (new)

Abby Elizabeth | 4157 comments Yeah. In the last year or so I've finally started liking pasta and due to family issues I've pretty much become designated cook and I've realized how simple and fun it is to make different pastas and as of tonight I've officially mastered fettuccine Alfredo. :P Although I cheated because I used a recipe as my guidelines. >.<

message 25621: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 3428 comments nothing wrong with recipes add guidelines

message 25622: by Abby Elizabeth (new)

Abby Elizabeth | 4157 comments Yeahhhh I know. But it's more fun to experiment with things that don't require precision *coughbakingcough* and plus its more of a bragging right..."oh I made this from scratch using only my intellect as my guide" compared to "oh I made this from scratch using the first 'easy insert-name-of-dish recipe' that came up on my google search" :P

message 25623: by mels (new)

mels (padmeskywalkers) | 10006 comments Mod
I never vary from the recipe xD
And somehow I still screw up...

message 25624: by Abby Elizabeth (new)

Abby Elizabeth | 4157 comments I'm very much a "just wing it" person. I hate rules, step-by-step instructions, schedules, and the like. It's why I can't stand math or science or the concept of public school. :P It's the way I'm wired.

How are we friends again?????

message 25626: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 3428 comments But I love baking! It is far better than cooking. And what about combining recipes, or adjusting recipes? I've heard if you change three things about a recipe, it becomes your own. I've definitely done that for multiple things.

And if you did make something awesome from scratch using only your intellect, wouldn't you write it down so it is repeatable?

Okay, I do enjoy baking but when you hand me a recipe and tell me to make it and the prep-time says ten minutes I'll end up taking 20 because I feel I absolutely have to use the exact amounts or it'll fail and it becomes rather stressful even though the end product is absolutely undoubtably totally worth it. And I'll modify small things like, "these cookies need more chocolate chips" or "these pancakes should have some cinnamon" and whatnot. And also since I'm still just beginning my "housewife training" as I fondly refer to it my mom will give me guidelines. She had 28+ years of cooking dinner, pulling from recipes and stuff, so she'll tell me "you need this many eggs and at least this much milk for that" "you don't need to boil the noodles separately for that recipe," "that needs more seasoning" etc. It's just the way I work.

Briana LS wrote: "How are we friends again?????"

Because I love you and you love me and just because we're wired differently doesn't mean that'll change...

message 25632: by Abby Elizabeth (new)

Abby Elizabeth | 4157 comments Conversation I had the other day:
Beanie-Boy: Oh yeah, Valentine's day is coming up. I'd celebrate it but I don't know who I'd ask...
Me: Briana's my Valentine.
Him: *gives me weird look*
Me: *innocent smile*

message 25633: by Briana (new)

Briana (brianals) | 15203 comments Mod
I can picture that conversation

message 25634: by Abby Elizabeth (new)

Abby Elizabeth | 4157 comments I feel like most of our conversations end with him giving me a weird look and me smiling innocently. Or with me patting his arm in sarcastic consolation....

It's probably good I left out the part about me technically having four Valentines...

message 25637: by Abby Elizabeth (new)

Abby Elizabeth | 4157 comments Yeah, four. You, my nieces, and the greatest guy in the world. :P

You don't?! WHAAAAT. *sends you virtual Valentine's hearts and flowers and maple cupcakes*

message 25638: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 3428 comments My Chinese teacher asked me (in Chinese) if I was having Valentine's day dinner with my husband. I thought she was joking, but apparently she seriously thought I was married!?! Whatever gave her that impression, I will never know....

message 25639: by Abby Elizabeth (new)

Abby Elizabeth | 4157 comments Maybe you come across as a mature, married woman? Or do you wear rings ever? Rings always confuse me on non-married people...

message 25640: by Rebecca (new)

Rebecca | 3428 comments I do have a tiny purity ring that I wear, but I don't think it looks like a wedding ring at all.

message 25641: by Abby Elizabeth (new)

Abby Elizabeth | 4157 comments Still. Could have been where the mistake was made. It could seem like a wedding band.
