Ach, sorry, that was rude of me. I have synesthesia, which means I see certain letters as colors (and sometimes music as colors too).

The weirdest part about it is that I know that (in this instance) the letters are black, but I see them as the colors too, almost simultaneously.

When we do gift exchange, we usually set a dollar limit... Usually 25-30 bucks...

I usually get them something that's $5 or less. Unless I really wanna get them something more expensive and I splurge. Or I make them something (I've done that a couple times).
